Hi, just after some advice on the best carrier that can be used from newborn. I have 5 year old with special needs who needs a buggy so I'm going to need a carrier for the baby. The only sling library near me has been closed down so I'm clueless. Any advice please? X

Hello!

We've noticed that this thread is quite old now, and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. We've spent weeks researching and testing baby carriers for newborns and beyond. Here is the best baby carrier 2019.

Hope this helps! Flowers

A stretchy wrap at first. There's a LOT of babywearing groups on FB that would be an ideal place to start looking for good info.

You can get a postal hire service.

Close caboos are often recommended. I did not start slinging until 6 months.

I'd suggest a stretchy wrap too. Brilliant things.

A lot of people don’t seem to get on with the Babasling, but I love it - I’ve been using it with my dd since she was 2 weeks old and now she’s 2 and 2 months! I’ll be using it again with the new LO.

I’m in a similar situation, as dd has Downs, and may not be walking (or at least not confidently) by the time her sibling comes along, so I can’t rely on buggy-boards etc. As she may not have the stamina for that.

I found my stretchy to get too hot with my summer baby. I prefer ring slings with tiny ones because I can loosen it a bit and latch baby on; I even managed to feed walking the older dc to school. Very convenient.

Thanks a lot for all the help X

I had a caboo and it was a god send. Also, felt a bit more secure to me because of the rings etc. I wouldn’t trust myself to wrap a stretchy sling properly!

Another vote for the Caboo, was a godsend in the first few months!

GreenGoblin0 · 24/10/2017 21:02

I used a caboo for first 5 months. now using boba 3g which is similar in design to ergo baby.

I used Rose and Rebellion last time, I still have it in fact - it's fantastic quality. Can be used from newborn to 5 years, front and back wearing. Uses clips

Stretchy wrap for a newborn (can get for a tenner from Amazon).

Tula here (with newborn insert for the first few months). I love it, so handy, quick to put on / put DD in. It can be a front or back carrier and uses clios so feels v secure.

Definitely one of my best buys along with the buggy board.

NutellaCookie · 24/10/2017 23:02

Clips...not clios

DaisyLand · 25/10/2017 11:16

Im planning on getting a boba

Stretchy wrap until around 4 months, then Connecta after that. We also have a Manduca that my husband has always preferred, but that really came into its own after 1 year as it is quite big.
