I've always been fascinated by what pregnant women crave (even before I got pg) and unfortunately I've only craved pickled onions briefly? Anyone had any odd ones? Someone I worked with craved sucking the soapy water out of her facecloth!

Yes I'm the same fiofio, I thought I would get completely overwhelming, got-to-have-it-now type cravings but instead I just really fancies jellybabies throught my last pregnancy.

Mind you when i say really fancied, i did once break down in tears and tell dp to cycle to the all night garage 3 miles away to get me some at midnight (but he had eaten the last ones, the b@stard)

Puppie · 12/04/2007 17:34

oooh I definitely craved the pickled onions. Was strange as it only lasted about a week but was like a woman possesed. Used to suck on them for hours at a time til fingers and mouth were wrinkly from the vinegar.

I've had the pickled onions one too, plus salt and vinegar crisps... must be something to do with strong salty vinegary flavours. I'm normally such a sweet tooth and I've not really craved anything sweet, just salty things.

Puppie · 12/04/2007 17:51

Same here. Could down a tin of condensed milk before pg but now cant get get enough salt and sharp flavours. Most disappointing as its just been Easter!

Probably not very good for me but in all my pregnancies and especially in this one (my fourth), I am craving magazines...I kid you not! At first I just liked the smell of them but now the taste of them is just lovely. I dont eat it just chew it and then dispose. And it cant be any old magazine it has to be the cheap sunday tabloid supplement type or the Ikea catalogue. After a week or so it starts to lose it's flavour.

That was very liberating, thanks Puppie for starting this thread. My DH has no idea about my magazine addiction

Puppie · 12/04/2007 18:48

Wow! Now that is a good one. I wonder if its true what they say that its something your body is lacking.

Salt & vinegar crisps - stopped me feeling sick in early stages and still REALLY fancy a bag now if feeling a bit off. Has to be S&V mind. And from about week 12 - 20 I couldn't get enough milk & yoghurt. Milk cravings have subsided but still pop out to buy supplementary yoghurts at lunchtime a couple of times per week (I always pack one in my lunch but some days one isn't enough)

marieg76 · 13/04/2007 09:41

Cola bottles and fruit pastilles. I would normally never eat such things - I don't really like sweets (love chocolate though). STrangely, I have gone off chocolate for most of my pregnancy.

skidaddle · 13/04/2007 13:36

Really beetlebug??!! That's hilarious - are you ever going to confess to your DH?

cupcake78 · 13/04/2007 14:09

I am having major cravings for Olives - can eat a jar at a time. I think it is the salt.

Also hate to admit it but have actually drank vinegar in the last few days. But it has to be proper malt vinegar nothing else will do.

Have also eaten lemons with salt on them in fact I really want that now but at work and may get some funny looks!!!plus I haven't got either.

cazzybabs · 13/04/2007 14:12

cupcake78 when i was pregnant with dd1 i drank vingar (as soon as I got out of the shop). dd2 no cravings but right off curry. This time fruit and veg (clearly lacking vit c) and am right off chocolate (still forced some down at easter though )

rhubarb90 · 13/04/2007 14:43

A few nights ago I had the sudden craving for pork scratchings. Normally the idea of them would make me feel quite sick as they are basically just salted fat, but I just had to have some. I really hope I start wanting loads of fruit or somethng instead or I'm going to put on about three stone in this pregnancy. Eeek.

tasja · 13/04/2007 14:47

My mum wanted to eat sement!

I craved ham and mayo buns. And skittels.

Puppie · 13/04/2007 16:34

Actually I don't know if reading these is doing me any good 'cause as soon as I saw 'Lemon and salt' and 'pork scratchings' I've developed a violent urge to have some where it hadn't even entered my mind til now!

Salt and vinegar crisps definitely bit worrying as you're sposed to watch salt intake aren't you??

I seem to be repulsed by more things than I crave, can't stand coffee at the moment (used to drink gallons of decaf), husbands feet! ds's feet!! uncooked meat, carrots! my fav perfume, fav soap

MKG · 13/04/2007 17:36

Tomatoes!! During both pregnancies. In fact I knew I was pregnant this time because I felt the need to add ketchup to everything. A few days later I took the test and well 34 weeks later I still need tomatoes.

I've also been known to drink an entire bottle of marinara sauce. And eat tomatoes like an apple.

Eaglebird · 14/04/2007 15:31

Picked beetroot at the moment, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Lusciousladylush · 14/04/2007 15:47

oh dear, I am going to sound completely bonkers with my cravings.

During first stages I craved tomato soup or tinnned spagetti, mainly tomato soup with bananas dipped in - yes I know - gross..

and red meat, on its own, and in pies and gravy, drinking it like soup as well as marmite!

At 39 weeks I have gone off all of these except for drinking yoghurt, or any kind of yoghurt, curry and beer....which have been cravings since I was 15 weeks or so.

and yes Its a boy so that explains the beer and currys!

Infact if this baby doesn't come out soon, I will be eating curry and drinking beer for breakfast lunch and dinner!

Mand and blue bub2!

Jamantha · 14/04/2007 17:00

not sure I know what a twirl is? (oh the shame )

rislip · 14/04/2007 17:03

Ice, ice and more ice. Bags of the stuff. Weird.

BabyMadwithBump · 14/04/2007 20:04

With this LO it's anything SWEET I thought it was going to be the same as my other 2 PG (2DS's) because it was anything to do with milk in the begining but soon changed to sweet things, where as it was milk right till the end with the other 2, milk just makes me feel sick now (24+1)!
