I'm in jeggings already...

What's wrong with me!? I am only 8 weeks pregnant. Usually a size 12, but haven't been able to button up my jeans for 2 weeks already. I've gained just under 2 pounds. Finally bit the bullet last weekend and bought some New Look jeggings, which are a game changer. Though, I'm already scared they wont last that long.

Please tell me I'm not the only one to be this uncomfortable in regular clothes so soon!?

I was the same!! I brought maternity leggings in at 12 weeks and I wasn’t even showing but couldn’t bear to wear anything tight!

Lozmatoz · 19/10/2017 13:23

Sorry, but that’s what happens!

NerNerNerNerBATMAN · 19/10/2017 13:27

Yeah, I dug my old maternity jeans out at 8 weeks because anything else was too much. Still in normal tops tho, and at 9+5 I just look a bit bloated if an evening rather than pregnant. I'm going to fully embrace the maternity wardrobe after my scan at 13 weeks, wish it was at 12 because not sure I can wait that long!!!

2014newme · 19/10/2017 13:28

I was the sane. It was twins.

EastDulwichWife · 19/10/2017 13:45

So pleased I'm not alone! I figured given most people keep it under wraps until 12 weeks that I would be fine in normal clothes till then... Fool!

I'm still in normal tops but the bloat is incredible. Decided to bite the bullet and tell my boss today. I can't deal with my knackering commute any longer!

2014 twins?! Congrats, that's incredible. Just the one heartbeat here!
NerNer my 12 week scan date is bang on the day, I'm not sure how I'd cope for another week!

At 8 weeks I'm the same size as when I was 6 months last time. No idea how to hide this from people! Angry

Topsyloulou · 19/10/2017 17:44

At 8 weeks this time round I was in maternity jeans because the bloating was so bad. Went back into normal jeans at 10 weeks when it subsided & then back into maternity about 14 weeks. With DS I had a hair and holding my jeans together from 10 weeks & went into maternity about 16 weeks.

EastDulwichWife · 19/10/2017 17:53

@GummyGoddess it's impossible isn't it!
I'm hoping the bloat goes down a little Topsy. I'm so surprised by this waist thickening!

Same! Leggings at 8 weeks and never looked back. Now 13 weeks and in maternity jeans every day. H&M sooooo comfy x

bettydraper31 · 19/10/2017 18:36

Second baby I should add x

Shammeyuk · 19/10/2017 19:08

I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I was just about to start a post and saw this. I'm 8+4 and I've already gained 3lb, my jeans button up but anything tight makes me feel uncomfortable and sick. I'm eating so much, I'm not thinking I'm eating for 2 but if I don't eat pretty much hourly the hunger pains start and I start to feel incredibly sick!
Anyone got any snacking tips, heathy stuff just isn't cutting it at the mo. I'm a size 10 but feel like at this rate I'm going to be huge!

Pennywhistle · 19/10/2017 19:10

I was desperate to get to 12 weeks and be able to tell people, in large part because I needed to switch to maternity clothes (also twins)

Congratulations on your baby. Flowers

Orangebird69 · 19/10/2017 19:10

I actually lost weight in the first trimester but still had that bloat in the early stages like you OP - I was using hairbands looped through the button hole to keep my jeans done up until the bloat subsided. Didn't actually then need maternity clothes until about 5 months.

EastDulwichWife · 20/10/2017 09:35

Interesting, I did hope the bloat would go away again, but it shows no signs of slowing. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Already fantasising about over the bump maternity jeans Betty!

6 weeks. The bloat is so bad by around 3pm that I unzipped my skirt where it was hidden by my blazer. I bought a size up in jeans and they're great for the weekend but I think I need some maternity opaque tights.

It doesn't help that I don't want anything with much flavour at the moment and just seem to be eating white carbs.

EastDulwichWife · 25/10/2017 16:12

I'm with you on the white carbs Schmoly. The "healthiest" thing I can manage is yoghurt... Poor baby Shock!

I'm at 6 weeks and already in maternity leggings - then again, this is my 10th pregnancy and (hopefully) 4th child and they reckon you do show sooner the more kids/pregnancies you've had. My 10-year-old has already started poking my stomach and teasing me that I'm getting fat (she doesn't know yet about the pregnancy; I lost the last one at 12 weeks so we're holding off on telling her for now).

EastDulwichWife · 26/10/2017 14:23

Congratulations @arkadyrose! I hope this is a healthy and happy pregnancy for you. I'm very impressed by your daughter's psychic powers..! x

ArkadyRose · 26/10/2017 14:51

Thanks! I'm thinking we may need to tell her sooner than planned, because she may be quite upset we didn't tell her if she figures it out by herself. She's far too smart for her own good sometimes! Problem is that with the last one, we told her at 10 weeks (because I'd not had a m/c that happened after 10 weeks in the past), only for disappointment just 2 weeks later. She's much older now, but she's also high-functioning autistic so trying to weigh up just when to tell her is hard. This pregnancy feels very different to that last one though, so I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic.

EastDulwichWife · 26/10/2017 15:06

There's no harm in optimism. I'm sure everything will go perfectly this time. My sister also has high-functioning autism so I can appreciate the difficult situation it puts you in. She's in her mid-twenties now and is a brain box superstar...now I get the psychic powers! x
