...but I'm only 34+4 weeks.

Both my nipples were wet and sticky when I woke just now, one side had leaked that much it was all down and under my boob.

Normal? Phone midwife?

Is colostrum, totally normal, I've been getting it from about 25 weeks

OnNaturesCourse · 16/10/2017 01:43

I did suspect that, just didn't expect it to come in so soon and from both breasts at the same time! Thank you.

My boobs leaking were the first sign of me being pg, and I had to wear breast pads early on. Was very weird, and can happen at any time.

OnNaturesCourse · 16/10/2017 01:50

That is strange, was that your first baby?

Im back off to bed hoping i dont wake in a sticky mess in the morning!

Yes, it was with dd1 who is 8 now. I thought it odd too at the time, so when it didn't happen with dd2, I thought that was strange, ha!

Mummyme87 · 16/10/2017 07:30

Good work.
Are you going to do colostrum harvesting?

Wolfiefan · 16/10/2017 07:31

Your milk won't "come in" until after birth. You're leaking colostrum. Normal.

Slightlydizzydaily · 16/10/2017 07:32

Colostrum harvesting and freezing would be great as it sounds like it would be easy for you to do! Then if for any reason (very unlikely) you or dc are ill after the birth dc could have your colostrum. Should be stuff about it on kellymom and needs to go in birth plan and birthing partner needs to be in the picture.

Lozmatoz · 16/10/2017 07:37

Completely normal.

pickledsausage · 16/10/2017 07:38

My friend sent me this yday about how to express before baby arrives: abm.me.uk/expressing-milk-baby-arrives-antenatal-expression-colostrum/

dementedpixie · 16/10/2017 07:42

I leaked colostrum from much earlier than 34 weeks. It's perfectly normal

OnNaturesCourse · 16/10/2017 08:15

Thanks all.

Most sources say I shouldn't encourage / collect it until 37 weeks so I'll wait until then. I was dry on waking this morning!

OP posts:
Oysterbabe · 16/10/2017 08:32

I'm 31 weeks and soak through my clothes every night. I'm going to start collecting it at 36 weeks I think.

OnNaturesCourse · 16/10/2017 08:36

Will you just collect, or pump?

OP posts:
Aliceinchunderland · 16/10/2017 08:49

@onnaturescourse Pumps aren’t advised with colostrum harvesting, it’s such small amounts that it just ends up caught in the pump, hand expressing is the way to go. With lots of massaging beforehand

OnNaturesCourse · 16/10/2017 08:58

That's what I thought. Unfortunately won't have time or patience for that!

OP posts:
Orangebird69 · 16/10/2017 08:59

I leaked colostrum from about 12 weeks.

dementedpixie · 16/10/2017 09:00

I never collected as you get such small amounts at a time that you would be collecting in syringes rather than bottles.

OnNaturesCourse · 16/10/2017 09:01

Yeah, that's why I won't have the time or patience. It seemed a lot last night but only because I'd never experienced it before

Expectingbsbunumber2 · 16/10/2017 09:41

Im 30 weeks 2 days and had no leaky boobs yet

OnNaturesCourse · 16/10/2017 10:07

Mine just started last night at 34+ weeks... While I was sleeping lol

OP posts:
mindutopia · 16/10/2017 10:11

Yes, really normal. I think I got it from late 2nd tri with my first. I've had a couple nights of leaking already this time and I'm only 23 weeks.

Oysterbabe · 16/10/2017 11:45

I'm going to get some 1ml syringes and hand express to collect. It's what I did in hospital last time when DD was in NICU and before my milk came in. It'll be nice to have some ready loaded syringes in the freezer this time in case I need them.

OnNaturesCourse · 16/10/2017 18:08

When it started ladies did you find your boobs/nipples got really tender?
