Question About Where To Give Birth And Recieve My Care!

Im nealry 7 weeks so still early days, but as we are moving from Essex to Suffolk in July, I ideally wanted all my care to take place at the hospital I will give birth in.

Does anyone know if this is possible? The hospital where I live now is only 20 miles from the one I will give birth in, but wanted to know if my doctors would allow me to have my care in Suffolk?

Sorry it sounds a bit weird written down, but hope someone can help!

Not sure but think it depends whether your chosen hospital accepts out of area patients (some do some don't I think) and also if your PCT in Essex will pay for you to go out of area. If you know the address you're moving to in Suffolk that may help. I'd speak to your GP, and/or the relevant PCTs/management at the Suffolk hospital you want to go to. But if you end up having to have your 12 week scan in Essex and then transferring to Suffolk, it won't be end of world. I changed hospitals after 12 week scan and felt like you that I'd have preferred to have my care in one place, but that seems like the dim and distant past now and it hasn't affected my overall experience in the pregnancy. Once that scan and initial bloods are out the way not alot happens for a few weeks anyway so the bulk of your care will happen in Suffolk either way.
