Hi everybody, I'm in Spain at the moment and have been to the beach most days. OH just asked me if it was safe for me to be swimming in the sea, I assumed it was but now I'm a little worried! I've swallowed water and all sorts throughout the week and not given it a second thought. Will my baby be okay?! Is this safe? I'm very worried ive harmed them now

I swam in the sea at 8 weeks in a cold Atlantic! No harm done.

I wouldn't advise being battered by big waves and I'd try not to swallow any water but I really think baby will be just fine.

Of course it's safe, enjoy!

Oh my goodness...what does your husband know about anything? Why would sea water be dangerous?

Seriously the amateur physicians that appear around pregnant women and new mothers drive me mad.

I was living in a seaside town when I was pregnant with DS2 and swam in the sea until the day I gave birth. Your cervix is closed. Nothing gets in. Enjoy the weather, there sea, and tell your OH it is great for the legs circulation and reduces cellulite!

hep b, e-coli can be a risk from raw sewage. some countries are better at sewage treatment than others.
don't know about where you are, maybe ask at the hotel. official athing beaches have to be tested.

Why on earth would it be unsafe?! It boggles my mind how some people think the human race survived at all.

^this.

Totally agree Tiramisu, people get a litttttle hysterical about life during pregnancy!

Ahhh thank you for the replies. I feel much better now. I thought it was fine but after he asked me I didn't dare get back in. I'll be going back today! Smile
