I'm only 7 weeks pregnant but back is so painful, feels like someone has crushed my ribs! Is this normal? I'm in agony!!!

I've had this a few times in pregnancy, really painful. I went to see a Gynae Physio, and she said it's a lot more common than people think to have really bad back pain the the first trimester. She said 50% of the women she sees were 6-12 weeks. Ligaments loosening can be very painful, esp if you have any lower back problems anyway. I'd see the GP and you might have to push a bit. The first two times I had this, I got told "it's normal" bit the third time when I made a bit more fuss, they referred my to physio and it really helped. Good luck, hope it eases soon!

I had this around 7-8 weeks and it went away after a week or so :)

I had this early on , it was gone by 12 weeks but returned at around week thirty. Rest was the only thing that made it any better unfortunately.

I've had this but in the second trimester

Thanks everyone, this is so helpful and good to know others have had it also!
