Any twin mums

Hi all
As title says any twin mums? I had an early scan at 6+5 due to a loss in 2011 (27weeks) anyway they found two babies in seperate sacs both heartbeats seen. I have my dating scan tomorrow and I cannot explain how nervous I am about vanishing twin. I have had no symptoms to suggest it has happened. I have still had bad nausea, tiredness and my stomach looks like I’m about 5 months pregnant not just 3! This is my 4th pregnancy. Anyway i know I’m rambling just wondered if any other twin mums out there or had early scans seen two and gone back to dating scan and two still there. I’m gonna drive myself insane waiting.
Also chose to have the Nuchal test did any of you have it with twins? Can’t find much info about it on twins. Thanks

Congratulations! I'm 16+3 with DC/DA Twins, these are also my 4th pregnancy.

I was really worried about vanishing twin but everything was fine for me and there's 2 wiggly babies in there. I expressed my concerns to my midwife she she said once you have seen 2 heartbeats the risk dramatically reduces.

We had the nuchal testing, I wasn't sure if they'd do it with twins but they took the measurements and bloods and I had the results back a week later so just like my singleton pregnancies.

That’s what I meant the Nuchal fold test with bloods as the specialist midwife seemed to keep saying not many have it etc with twins because of funny results.
That’s all I keep telling myself that if I have seen both heartbeats and measuring same dates then that’s a good sign plus they surley would have said if they didn’t think one was viable? And they have put me consultant let (I usually am after my second pregnancy though due to him having a chromosome issue) I’m so nervous for tomorrow’s scan I just want it over so I can try to enjoy the pregnancy.
Heard high risk a lot the last few weeks I’m glad in a way they are classed as the least complicated ones as it just makes it a little more reassuring.
How you feeling at 28 weeks? Are you measuring bigger than a singleton? I’m already getting annoyed with everyone saying how big I am already and that I am going to be massive and the how are you going to run around after our three year old when he’s playing up etc 🤔 just not helpful sometimes. X

That’s fab supermarket sally to hear. I keep reassuring myself that but it just feels so long from our last scan to this one.
I know it’s just a waiting game and I keep telling myself I’ll enjoy it after the dating scan but I know like my previous pregnancy I won’t rest until the anomaly scan has been done as that’s when they first identified a problem with my second pregnancy. It’s just so hard but really trying to enjoy it as I know this is our last. X

I had a 7wk scan due to 2 miscarriages and found dcda twins. Now 32 wks so all working out so far. You can have nuchal test and bloods and an Iona/harmony test.

What’s a harmony test? The specialist midwife I am under hasn’t said anything about that apart from the Nuchal fold screening Which i had with my son.
Another positive story I know I’m making it worse for myself by constantly worrying about it. I know it will probably all be fine and no vanishing twin just my mind going stir crazy x

I had am early scan due to bleeding at 8 weeks. My twins are now 7 months old. Good luck!

We found my twins at 5 weeks due to my miscarriage history. I spent the entire pregnancy worrying but I have 2 little 6 weeks old 3 babies cuddling me now.

We only did nuchal fold measurements, no blood test as my Dr advised they can give funky results with twins.

My pregnancy wasn't much fun. I developed pre eclampsia and spent 2 weeks in hospital before the babies were delivered. They were worth it all though. They are hard work but it's manageable.

AnUtterIdiot that’s reassuring. This is our 4&5 we have a 7 and 3 year old already and like I said people like to comment how much more challenging it will be with two more. I agree with you though either way will be tired with just one or two newborns.
I’m starting to get excited now for tomorrow trying to push my worries to the back of my mind.
They have said they will do bloods with it but said sometimes not always reliable. IM not actually sure why we are doing it I want to say reassurance but then I guess it could prove worrying if anything came back “abnormal”
Who knows hopefully tomorrow afternoon I’ll be back onto cloud nine x

That sounds so cute I can’t wait for newborn snuggles. I’m so excited but then keep going really nervous.
Pre eclampsia is a bugger least they kept an eye on you although not ideal being in hospital. I worry about if I have to stay in for any period of time of my other two although hubby is great I know he struggles getting time off work but I suppose it’s a case of tough luck and will have too if push came to shove x

I have an older child too. It's hard when I'm on my own with all 3 but when she's at nursery it's fine. You find what works for you just as you would with one.

Ours will be just turned 5, 4 and 2 when the twins arrive.. I've had the reaction a few times!

I couldn't have standard nt test with bloods when havinh my twins 6 years ago as gives screwed results back then instead I had a VERY detailed scan with a specialist looking for soft markers for downs even the bridges of their noses where viewed detailed look at the heart etc and nt measurements taken I was told at the time that statistically speaking this scan was as accurate as the blood test and nt screening performed at giving a high or low chance of the baby having any of the trisomy conditions. It was done at 12 weeks by my consultant.

Mine where babies 3 and 4 I had 3 and 2 year old at the time currently carrying no 6 😮

I have nearly 2 year old twins. I found out at 7 weeks because I had a bleed. The first few weeks after we the worst because I discovered vanishing twin syndrome and I didn't feel too poorly. But they were fine. I had a straight forward pregnancy and had them via ELCS at 38 weeks. I also had a 2 year old at home who wasn't in childcare.

People always like to point out the negative but if you get through the first few months, it becomes your new normal. Yes it is hard sometimes, but having kids in general can be hard sometimes. I'm currently pregnant with DC 4 and I'm trying to hide it for as long as possible because I'm not interested in people's opinions about my choice.

Twins are the best! Ours are 4 months old now.
We had the nuchal folds measured at 12 week scan.
I was huge! Was induced at 36+3. I was v anxious for whole pregnancy but all was fine :)

Woken up so nervous but now excited just want it to be this afternoon now so i can see them again.
I know it’s going to be hard work, luckily my 7 year old is in full time school and my 3 year old he goes to nursery three full school days. I used to work in a nursery in a baby unit so just keep telling myself have done it before I can do it again. I have heard routine is the key (I’m quite a stickler for routine) so keeping everything crossed we get through although let’s face it we have no choice but too lol! Thankyou for all your happy stories it was what I needed especially the ones who have had early scans.
I think people just like to stick their two pence in whenever they can I usually try to ignore it but on some days especially when my three year old is in mid meltdown it’s a lot harder to ignore. X

We had the scan both babies led in perfectly position so got their Nuchal fold measurements one was 1.4 and one 1.5 so I’m guessing that’s classed as normal we had bloods too. Babies was wiggling about was really nice to watch. One is measuring three days smaller but been told that’s normal. I’m going to try let myself enjoy it now I have seen them both happy in there x

The book I found most helpful and normal was called Happy Twin Mum although I'm not sure if it's only avaiable as an ebook.

Definitely join TAMBA though. Lots of advice about pregnancy, birth, feeding etc and some good discounts for members eg shoes, holidays, buggies. Only costs a couple of quid a month to join.
