No they are like lucozade - there's an orangey one with a sports cap

Doublechocolatetiffin · 03/10/2017 14:29

I used lucozade sport, I don't think there is any caffeine in there. That said, I doubt there is any amount of caffeine you could drink during labour that would do the slightest bit of harm to your baby.

I'd definitely recommend getting something though - they were brilliant for me.

SS81C · 03/10/2017 14:30

No not the caffine energy drinks.
You want The non fizzy Lucozade drinks....like lucozade sport - comes in lots of different flavours.

Isotonic drinks are formulated to have the minerals you need, in a solution that is easy for your body to absorb.

I'd love to see what happened if you started swigging red bull or similar during labour after months of no caffeine! Grin

Jellybabie3 · 03/10/2017 14:41

Haha. Similar to how i will react to my first g&t....

Maybe add that to the list too - it may help!!

ChipShopGherkin · 03/10/2017 16:26

If you don't mind me asking JellyBabie, when were you due? I've been seeing your threads for ages and figured you must have been due around the same time I was.

You've seemed so fed up and I really sympathise.

cinnamonwoman · 03/10/2017 16:34

Lucozade sport got me through 2 labours. I'll be stocking up again soon!

Roxx1516 · 03/10/2017 16:59

I had the orange lucozade in labour 😂 I'm not sure if it did anything tho bar give me a sugar rush

10storeylovesong · 03/10/2017 17:48

Lucozade got me through my labour too. I usually hate the stuff but it was absolutely bliss and really did help.

Jellybabie3 · 03/10/2017 19:06

Slightly gatecrashing...are there any sugar free isotonic drinks? I have GD so can't have the normal ones Sad

Jellybabie3 · 03/10/2017 19:11

I had a google of lucozade sport and thought i saw a calorie free one (so presumably sugar free)??

@Jellybabie oh thanks - I'll take a look! Otherwise I might be smuggling in shots of espresso.

Cracklesfire · 03/10/2017 19:15

I'd also recommend freezing a few plain bottles of water - I went into labour about 12 hours after being induced and having icy cold water was so nice!

Kelsoooo · 03/10/2017 19:20

Lucozade energy, or sport, were both recommended by my consultant led team...and were one of the key things that kept me from an emergency c-sec.

Jellybabie3 · 03/10/2017 19:33

Oh thats great thanks!
