They worked well for me in my last 2 pregnancys so why arent they working now!

I've followed the instructions but they are not helping at all

Quite often you can find that m/s takes a different pattern, nbg. During my first two pgs the only thing that helped me was sucking mints. When I got pg for the third time, the mere smell of them made me throw up!

Sea bands never worked for me I'm afraid - keep trying them though(it may be that they are limiting how sick you feel rather than stopping it entirely). I would work your way through a list of remedies and see what works for you - I found in this pregnancy that what worked brilliantly one week was a total failure the next, so you may need to chop and change a bit.

hi mate, sorry you are feeling rough.

Ive adjusted mine slightly, so they arent quite where the leaflet says they should be!

They are working though, just hoping they work long enough that I am through with the sick stuff.

Thinking of you mate xx

Thanks both!

Not sure I could manage mints atm although I do drink peppermint tea and that is supposed to be good for the stomach.

My nans bought me some Arrowroot biscuits as thats supposed to calm stomaches too.

Ummmm, I dont want to worry you, but have you considered you might have twins?

Nbg · 09/04/2007 10:16

WHAT!
Why would you say such a thing!!!!!!!

What makes you think that?

Just that I had no m/s at all with my first three pregnancies and then I got it a bit with my fourth for a couple of weeks, before losing a twin. I was glad not to have the twin btw, so no sympathies needed. I do know that twins can make m/s worse or bring it on in those who doen't otherwise get it.

Nbg · 09/04/2007 10:20

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!

Theres no twins in the family that I know of.
It would be just my bloody luck though.

I did have sickness with dd but it went after about 12 weeks ish.

I don't think you need to worry unnecessarily, since you have had m/s before. It is probably like the others said - one pregnancy is different to another and different remedies will work.

It was just in my case that I almost knew something was up (ie I had twins) because it was so unlike me to feel sick.

twins - omg...bring on that scan nbg!!!

DumbledoresGirl · 09/04/2007 10:26

God I wish I hadn't mentioned it now! I am worrying for you! When is the scan due?

The sea bands only helped slightly ease the m/s with dd1 they worked miracles when I was pg with dd2 ie they totally made my sickness go away.... We have mutliples on both sides of the family, dh's side has twins galore, and mine has triplets, I've only had singles although with the hyperemises with dd1 everyoen was positive there couldn't be just one in there causing so much nausea.....

Do the usual I suppose, rest as much as possible, try ginger biscuits, mint tea, actually camomile tea kind of calmed my sickness too eat little and often.....I've forgotten all the other stuff you have my sympathies..

fuzzywuzzy · 09/04/2007 10:36

oh yes try drinking a little flat coke it does help, but the cola has to be flat add a teaspoon of sugar (as if it doesn't have enough) into it to make it go flat, my GP recommended it and it did work, drink it slowly and not loads either.

JARM · 09/04/2007 10:54

hope all is ok xxxx

Nbg · 09/04/2007 11:13

Scan should be this week although I have requested its next week because dh wants to come.
