Hi, just wondering when everyone got their MatB1 form. I'm 25 weeks pregnant and haven't had mine yet. I won't see my midwife till 28 weeks (2nd pregnancy).

I'm starting to panic a little now as I'm sure that I'm supposed to give work a MatB1 15 weeks before the baby's due date!

I had mine at my 24 weeks mw appointment

Expectingbsbunumber2 · 02/10/2017 22:21

I got mine at my 24 week appointment

RNBrie · 02/10/2017 22:23

If you need it any sooner your GP can issue you one. Its annoying to have to wait for your 28 week appt. My train company give you a free season ticket upgrade to first class from 20 weeks but only with a MatB1... My GP was happy to give me one so I could get my upgrade Grin

RNBrie · 02/10/2017 22:24

There isn't a 24 week midwife appt for second and subsequent babies. You go from 16 wks to 28 wks.

Mum2oneds · 02/10/2017 22:27

You can get it after 20 weeks. As my work r being assholes. And I want it in ASAP and not seeing her till 28 weeks. She's given. Me mine and pre dated it for day after my scan shhh lol. But obviously can't hand it in until then

Expectingbsbunumber2 · 02/10/2017 22:29

@RNBrie well I had mine a month ago when I was 24 weeks.

Rainshowers · 02/10/2017 22:31

I don't have a 24 week apt as I'm a second pregnancy. I just called my midwife last week and asked her-she's done it for me and left it at reception for me to pop in and pick up. Work haven't asked for it yet but I didn't want to leave it till 28 weeks and have them tell me it was too late!

GuntyMcGee · 02/10/2017 22:32

MatB1 can be given from 20 weeks and only needs to be given a month before your maternity pay is due to start. You do not need a MatB1 to arrange maternity leave dates, no matter what your manager or HR dept says. It's for pay, not leave.

So 28 weeks is absolutely fine to get it from your MW if that's when she's specified. Otherwise you could contact your MW and ask for it a bit earlier, bearing in mind that it can't be issued before 20 weeks and you will possibly need to collect it.

This has just made me look at my notes, and sorry to hijack a bit but does anyone know why I have a mw appointment next week (20+5). This my second pregnancy and I'm high risk so I thought that I meant I have the same amount of appointments as people have with their first. So that's 16 &25w?

Lemondrop99 · 02/10/2017 22:49

I got given mine at the same time as my 20 week scan

Oysterbabe · 03/10/2017 06:32

I called my midwife and asked for it after 20 weeks and she left it in reception for me to pick up.

CrazyOldBagLady · 03/10/2017 07:02

I wasn't offered one, so had to ring up and request one. Finally got it around 25 weeks.

Oldschool41 · 03/10/2017 07:51

I got mine at 24 weeks 😜

TheEdgeOfGlory266 · 03/10/2017 07:54

I got mine at my last appointment which was 24 weeks.
I didn't realise you had less appointments for subsequent pregnancies. I've already had a child, should I be having less?

MagicFajita · 03/10/2017 07:56

I forgot to ask at my 20 week scan , I phoned my gp and they filled the form out for me and left it at the reception desk.

chipscheeseandgravy · 03/10/2017 08:20

I think I got mine at 25 weeks (when it’s classed as a viable pregnancy), I just phoned the midwife team and they dropped it off at the surgery for me to collect.
