Am I Miscarrying???

Please help me!

I woke up on the early hours of this morning with sharp period pains. When I went to the toilet there was red blood and I am still losing red blood now.

I wouldn't be so concerned if there wasn't the pain too.

I am 12 weeks tomorrow and due my 12 week scan on Tuesday. After calling the Emergency EPU at 4am they have cancelled my routine 12 week scan in favour of an "emergency scan" which isn't until Wednesday!!!

I don't know what to do. This is my first pregnancy and I am 34.

My sickness and sore breasts have subsided so I'm worried that I have lost my baby: having to wait for 3 days seems crazy to me!

Olivia

Phone hospital again or 111! Now you are bleeding and losing clots with lots of pain they will need to see you! Don't take no for an answer x

Fluffybrain · 02/10/2017 14:16

Sorry to hear that Olivia. Have you taken pain relief? Is your partner with you?

OliviaFullman · 02/10/2017 14:22

@4thtime I have an appointment tomorrow now which is better than Wednesday!

@Fluffybrain yes my partner is with me at the moment but he leaves for Sweden on Thursday. I'm so upset.

My heart goes out to every single woman who has ever experienced this, it's awful

Been there 3 times myself so I can totally understand where you are coming from, sending you lots of positive thoughts xx

flumpybear · 02/10/2017 14:27

I've had this both with miscarriage and with my DD at 12 weeks so be brave and hopefully you'll find more out tomorrow

Can your husband not have emergency time off ?

flumpybear · 02/10/2017 14:27

DD is fine and now 9 by the way

Fluffybrain · 02/10/2017 14:29

I'm glad you have your partner there for now and that you have an earlier appointment. Yes, it is awful.

OliviaFullman · 02/10/2017 14:33

@flumpybear did you experience what you felt was absolutely and unquestionably enough blood and clots to be a miscarriage accompanied by cramping pain?

I just wouldn't have imagined it was possible for this to be anything other than a miscarriage. My GP just told me that bleeding during pregnancy isn't normal
Or common!!! Well clearly that's wrong because so many women on here have experienced it!

I'll know for sure tomorrow at least xxx

Bleeding is common in pregnancy - my obstetrician consultant told me and she's a miscarriage expert

With my DD I had pain and huge clots of blood, egg sized clots, I had s scan the following day, still bleeding (was bleeding for around 6 weeks albeit old blood which goes brown then black - nice!) my consultant said baby is fine so I'm bit worried, it'll be a bleed possibly a vili from placenta or some sort of bleed but it's not affecting the baby so she wasn't at all worried

I did have the same affect miscarrying tbh with a different pregnancy - you need a scan to be sure - just don't let anyone touch you til you've had a scan
A friend had a huge 12 week bleed too, pouring out of her - a&e doc said oh yea a miscarriage, shall I remove the membranes I can see - thankfully she told him no - as a trip to early pregnancy told them all her baby was fine - she's about 11 now Wink

flumpybear · 02/10/2017 14:46
  • I'm not worried ( not I'm bit worried! Totally different meaning !)
OliviaFullman · 02/10/2017 14:49

@flumpybear The blood is bright red now not brown or black.

I guess all I can do is keep still and keep everything crossed until the scan tomorrow. I won't give up all hope just yet.

I honestly cannot thank you ALL enough for being here for me today. You ladies rock xx

Just to repeat what everyone else has said - bleeding doesn't necessarily mean miscarriage. I really feel for you - I had so much worry during my pregnancy and he waiting is the hardest bit. Stay as calm as you can, rest, drink plenty of water and although it's easier said than done, please try to relax. X

BellaShLex · 02/10/2017 14:51

Glad you got an earlier appointment, try to rest today and take it easy.

Sorry, yes bright red for a week or so slowly changing to brown stringy discharge blood and then black - all over 12-18 is weeks

Really scary but was fine - definitely red blood and red clots to start with - loads of it - distressing but actually ok as it turned out

Good luck tomorrow Flowers

MyEternalSunshine · 02/10/2017 16:37

Olivia So sorry to see what you're going through. Been there twice myself and it is crushing beyond words Flowers FX everything is ok for you

ChristmasAccountant · 02/10/2017 16:41

So sorry to hear what you're long through. I've had this and had both outcomes - one ended in miscarriage at 11 weeks and the other is my 4 year old. I bled like a heavy period with clots etc but a scan revealed that I had an area of bleeding and I spotted until about 20 weeks I think.
Fingers crossed for you. Rest up as much as you can.

OliviaFullman · 02/10/2017 16:47

@MyEternalSunshine and @ChristmasAccountant thank you for your messages. My partner is looking after me whilst I lie in bed. I despise lying in bed doing nothing but I know I have to!

Have had 2-3 lots of heavy red blood loss with clots that look like liver. However the last trip to the loo there wasn't any blood.

God only knows what's going on, just a waiting game now until I go to hospital tomorrow :/

I bled during a pregnancy, and my daughter is 18months old now. Don't lose hope. Fingers crossed for you xxx

OliviaFullman · 02/10/2017 17:19

@LexieLulu aside from the constant flow of red blood it's the painful spasms for the last 12 hours that are making me more concerned xx

MollyHuaCha · 02/10/2017 18:38

Thinking of you. Take care.

Misssmoo · 02/10/2017 18:48

Hi olivia I had a miscarriage with slight bleeding and no pain at 12 plus weeks when I had a scan baby had gone at 8 weeks so keep faith that all may still be okay as lots of women say bleed g in preg and all was okay...thinking of u xx
