So as title says...41+4 and noticed today if i stand up after sitting for abit i am leaking some fluid. Doesn't smell of anything from what i can make out. Lower abdominal pain when standing/moving for two days now but i think i over did it on birthing ball. Likely to be urine??

Likely to be amniotic fluid...! Waters going? Ring midwife x

Jellybabie3 · 01/10/2017 20:51

I thought it should smell funny?

OP posts:
Shylo · 01/10/2017 20:52

No, amniotic fluid doesn't smell - I'd call the midwife

LavenderDoll · 01/10/2017 20:53

I'd call the midwife!

honeysucklejasmine · 01/10/2017 20:54

Pop a mat pad on (not a tena or sanitary towel) and see what comes. Waters don't smell offensive or anything, but you need to show the results to a midwife.

Jellybabie3 · 01/10/2017 21:05

Ok its like a few teaspoons just after sitting. Worried as i went in at 30 weeks and it was a false alarm.

Usually they like to monitor u if leaking for any length of time in case you leak dry....give hospital a ring.

Polly99 · 01/10/2017 21:12

But there's nothing to worry about - no penalty for going in when it's a false alarm, and no prizes for only going in in established labour. Give your midwife a bell.

Fwiw, when I was 38 weeks with my first I once had really wet (not just damp) jeans after sitting in the car for 30 mins. Never happened again so I assume it was some sort of weird crotch sweat, and DD didn't come for another month, so odd things can happen when preggo.

Jellybabie3 · 01/10/2017 21:42

Sounds similar to what i had at 30 weeks. I cant call mw now as overdue. Been told to only contact triage at hosp. That's why i am reluctant

SnowiestMountain · 01/10/2017 21:43

Just contact them OP!! It sounds very much like your waters are leaking, good luck!

Blueberrysandgrapes76 · 01/10/2017 21:44

You do need to call!

Baby's head will be blocking the waters exit hence why it's only trickling out

silkybear · 01/10/2017 21:46

sounds like waters. you get more watery discharge towards the end but given its coming out when going from standing to sitting and how far along you are i would ring triage. hope it means something is happening for you!

DeadDoorpost · 01/10/2017 21:53

Jellybabie3 I've seen how frustrated you've been on a lot of threads and so I've got my fingers crossed for you that this is finally it. Hopefully everything's OK regardless though Flowers

Mayhemmumma · 01/10/2017 21:54

False alarm made me smile, you're 41 weeks!

Get checked asap, you might need anti biotics if your waters have gone.

GlitteryFluff · 01/10/2017 21:56

Definitely call up. This could be it. Exciting!

mostimproved · 01/10/2017 22:01

This is how my labour started - I think they called it a ‘hindwater leak’ and said there is a risk to the baby of infection the longer you leave it. Definitely phone if you haven’t already, and good luck!

Jellybabie3 · 02/10/2017 06:53

Ok i tried the pad test last night so put a mat pad on after shower and a wee. After an hour ironically there was nothing. This morn i get up and i have the leak....i have prob been laid down for 3 hours though

Callmegeoff · 02/10/2017 06:59

I'm a midwife, please go and get checked, if they have gone there is a risk of infection.

PrimeraVez · 02/10/2017 07:13

This happened to me the day before I went into labour. I woke up in a damp patch and thought I had peed myself. When I stood up after half an hour, I had another definite trickle. I saw my OB/GYN (I'm not in the UK) that afternoon and she said it was my hindwaters leaking.

Please get checked over. There's no such thing as a false alarm at 41 weeks!

mrkaykay · 02/10/2017 07:20

Please go get it checked. I gave birth yesterday after having my hind waters break (felt like you described) and as soon as they break they had me on a time limit due to infection risk.

Jellybabie3 · 02/10/2017 10:04

Ok agreed with DH we will ring if carries on when he gets back later (4.30pm). Its not happening every time (just laid down again for half hour) so i am dubious its just discharge.

My waters didn't gush at all, was just a trickle. There was nothing on the pad when I went into hospital. They do a test with a swab and what looks like a pregnancy test - takes 5 mins. They told me that if I hadn't started contractions without 24 hours of waters going they would have looked to induce me as risk of infection.

Please go in and get checked.

Hairgician · 02/10/2017 10:21

Another vote to go in and get checked. I wouldn't wait til 4.30 incase it is waters.
Mine went at 40+10 and I had initially thought it was just water trapped after being in bath. (Fri night at 10pm after bath) so I went to bed with a pad on incase as was due in to assessment unit the sat morn for monitoring anyway.
Snotty midwife had total cats bum face on when I mentioned they might be leaking. Demanding to know why I didn't come straight in. Turns out it was my waters.

Blueberrysandgrapes76 · 02/10/2017 10:43

Op - so many people have told you to go and get checked and you are still ignoring them

Frankly you are putting your baby at risk by not getting checked out asap. There is an increased risk of infection if your waters have broken and you don't have the baby out after 24.

Stop putting your baby at risk and get down to the hospital now.

Sorry for being bossy but crikey why take the risk with your newborn!

MotherFromCatan · 02/10/2017 10:49

This is how mine started, the trickling started at 2am and they went fully at around 9am, but they don't always gush! The contractions didn't start until after lunch but you do need to call triage as they like to have you in within 24hrs of the waters starting in my area!
