Was your sickness the same second time around?

If you had morning sickness first time around, did it last the same amount of time second time around? Eg last time I felt fine by 13 weeks, is that likely to happen again this time?

no it was much less intense second time round 😁

anxietycentralallthetime · 01/10/2017 19:26

Far worse second time. Boy much worse than girl! First time felt fine by 9 weeks, second time constant evening sickness until 18 weeks and then intermittent all the way through.

SilverLinings2014 · 01/10/2017 19:27

Nope. Had none the first time. Horrendous nausea (but never actually sick) until 15-16 weeks second time.

Prusik · 01/10/2017 19:28

My pregnancy with Ds I was as sick as a dog for most of the pregnancy. Started with nausea, sickness and loss of appetite for the first 30 weeks and then awful indigestion and reflux.

I'm now 22 weeks pregnant and was convinced this one was a girl because I've only had some nausea and sickness. Nope... Another boy apparently!

LadyPug · 01/10/2017 19:36

Oh right... so this pregnancy could be much worse! That's good to know! Haha - yours sincerely, dead by morning sickness at 7 weeks!

With my first I had nausea and vomiting throughout the entire pregnancy , vomited about 6-10 times a day but could eat and drink in between the vomiting. With the second I was horrendously sick until about 20 weeks , incapacitated and repeatedly hospitalised for IV fluid replacement and was then fine until about 32 weeks when I just vomited through to my ELCS at 38 weeks . I then vomited all the way through the section as well . All good fun .

Topsyloulou · 01/10/2017 19:43

With DS I had some nausea in the mornings until about 10 weeks & eating haribo & drinking water really helped. This time round, a girl, the nausea was constant. The only thing that helped was constantly grazing & even then I didn't feel great. That & the complete exhaustion lasted until 17 weeks. On a more positive note I had awful pregnancy insomnia & leg cramps from about 24 weeks with DS but this time round I've had cramp a couple of times & still sleeping 8 hours a night at 34 weeks. Fingers crossed it stays that way for the next 6 weeks!

Tilapia · 01/10/2017 19:44

My morning sickness was worse in my second pregnancy. And even worse than that in the third. Sorry OP! (Unrelated to sex of baby btw.)

MummyToASassy4yrOld · 01/10/2017 19:44

@LadyPug from what I remember I was only felt slightly sick with my daughter this time round is so different.. Got the constant sickness feeling.. Luke I could actually be sick but don't feeling all day. Got worse last week 🙈 I'm only 7wks+2days and can't wait for it to end. Feel like it's a constant battle with food. I know I need to eat it but the thought of eating it then getting heartburn/indigestion on top of wanting to be sick puts me off eating it's then a vicious circle! Along with other symptoms I'm experiencing this time that I never last time, it's a constant worry counting the weeks till I can have my 12 wk scan! x

EvansOvalPies · 01/10/2017 19:49

With DD my (all day) 'morning sickness' lasted for 16 weeks, solidly. So bad I could hardly even get out of bed, some days. With DS, only intermittent mild nausea for a couple of days.

All pregnancies are different.

Congratulations!

Waitingonasmile · 01/10/2017 19:58

Both are boys, but second pregnancy sickness much much worse than first.

Expectingbsbunumber2 · 01/10/2017 20:03

I've felt a lot worse the second time around 🙈

Jenijena · 01/10/2017 20:05

My second was easier - I threw up most evenings in my second trimester with my first. With my second I felt nauseous, and earlier, but much less puking.

Anatidae · 01/10/2017 20:07

Hi ladypug, I think I remember your name from the hyperemesis threads - my son is almost 2 now :)

I was pregnant recently, and unfortunately it ended in miscarriage- but I was vomiting from five days after conception :( and even before that I had a peculiar revulsion for things that normally are ok.

Interested to see what others say - my HG was awful, and I've been left with nausea and vomiting the second half of every cycle :(

SquareSophia · 01/10/2017 20:08

AWFUL nausea first time. Think retching into the bushes on the way to work. For the whole first trimester. Hideous.

Second baby NONE. Literally didn't believe I was pregnant.

There is no telling!!

stitchglitched · 01/10/2017 20:12

I had HG with my first pregnancy until about 24 weeks and felt awful. With my second child I longed for the days of my first, 40 weeks of relentless HG and in and out of hospital constantly. I was even on a drip for dehydration as I vomitted my way through labour! First was a boy, second a girl if that's relevant.

Sierra259 · 01/10/2017 20:13

I felt just as rough (nausea 24/7) with DC2 but didn't throw up as often - about 2-3 times a week up until 14 weeks with DC1, only twice altogether with DC2. However the nausea did go on longer with DC2 ( until 17 weeks).

Thataintnoetchasketch · 01/10/2017 20:15

First pregnancy I'd wake in the middle of the night to vomit/had to throw up in the street which was mortifying but this time I've only been sick once. I'm nauseous a lot and feel like I've been hit by a bus most days but sickness hasn't been as bad.

LadyPug · 01/10/2017 20:15

Oh my goodness, thank you everyone for sharing! Looks like I just have to hold on tight and hope it ends!

9 months of daily sickness with both my pregnancies. A major contributing factor to not having number 3.

Lukeandlorelai4Ever · 01/10/2017 20:22

First with dd, awful sickness and vomiting up until 12 weeks.
14 weeks pregnant at the moment and it has been AWFUL. On anti sickness meds and still vomiting. This past week I've been improving daily. This will be my last!!!

Chocachoo · 01/10/2017 22:00

I had intense sickness the first time with vomiting 6-16 weeks. Thought this time it would be worse because nausea started at 4 weeks - but it never got really going!! Just had all day nausea (no vomiting) daily until it stopped nearly overnight about 11 weeks! Smile

Anatidae · 02/10/2017 07:41

Having done a fair amount of reading on this as now ttc second one -

get treated

From what I've read, early treatment and not letting it hit it's stride is very important

KarateKitten · 02/10/2017 07:44

Terrible all 4 times.

Lozmatoz · 02/10/2017 07:46

Worse second time. Boy first, girl second.
