Hi everyone, I’m 34 weeks fmtb and starting to get all the baby stuff sorted. So far I’ve only bought 0-3 months clothes and I’ve got a couple of hand me down sleepsuits in size 0-1month. I want to order some sleepsuits from Next but do I get first size or up to one month? Can I skip the first size?

Also maternity pads.. I went to boots and spent a small fortune on breast pads, nipple cream etc yesterday and bought boots own brand ultra thin maternity pads and disposable knickers but they had some much thicker pads too. Do I need the thick ones? They just seem really uncomfortable and I would be worried about leakage as I don’t think they’ve wings for support? Please share your experiences as I haven’t got a clue😊

Definitely get the thick pads- I used them for a week or two and then moved to the thinner ones. They weren't uncomfortable and I don't recall any problems with leaking, once past first couple of days anyway!

Re clothes, I used newborn size for a while but DS was fairly small (3.1 kg), but the 0-3 size is pretty big so I would have thought you'll want some of the newborn ones.

Good luck! Smile

You'd definitely need the thicker pads from boots, it does feel like you're wearing a nappy but as long as you've got some full dark knickers it's not so bad.

I gave birth on Saturday morning and have gone through a pack of thick boots maternity pads already.

I'd go for the super thick maternity pads, and plenty of them! Also worth getting some cheap 'big pants'. As for baby clothes, I was convinced I was going to have a big baby so had plenty of 0-3 month but he was 7lb5 and I only had 2 newborn baby grows! Luckily had mum and auntie around to send to get some that fitted him. He's only just big enough for 0-3 months at 5 weeks old and weighing nearly 11lb. Maybe buy some newborn but keep receipts to return if necessary.

I second the big pads. I used them two at a time for weeks as I was pretty tender and still bleeding. I bought up to one month and skipped newborn but my LO was almost 10lbs and ended up only being in the up to 1 month stuff for a few weeks before going into 0-3. It's impossible to know what you need though so better having a few of each size.

Thanks peeps😊 I'll get the thick pads then and I've bought some big black knickers from Asda.
