Seem to be getting cramps in my legs loads lately, I'm 34 wks, this morning must of had about three times in my ankle not long sfter waking up! Anyone know any good ways of controlling / stopping it? Is so painful when it comes on but then eases off after about 30secs but omg I could do without it n sometimes my leg aches afterwards if I've had a few bad episodes of it! Don't know if there's anything u can take or do to help but if anyone knows of anything please share. Thanks xx

Do you eat bananas? Potassium (I think) in them is good for cramps

I used to suffer with leg cramps in the middle of the night. Trying eating a bag of crisps (or preferred salty snack) before bed. Hey, I'm no doctor, but worth a try?

I have leg cramps and it'a a warning of the start of varicose veins. You can get support stocking in your pharmacy to wear during the day to help.

I had very painful leg cramps several times a week from about 25 weeks when I was pregnant with DS. They'd make me cry out in pain & my leg would still be sore for a day or two after. I asked the midwife what I could do to help & she said it was another one of those pregnancy things & won't go until after baby arrives. Not what you want to hear with 15 weeks to go! They did go as soon as he arrived though. I tried bananas & salty foods, didn't help me but worth a go. I've had cramp a couple of times this pregnancy. I've found getting out of bed & putting weight on it as soon as it happens seems to help & eases it more quickly.

I've had two in the night, a month apart- so painful!! (At 20 and 24 weeks) Hugely painful both at the time and sore for two days after. I've read it's to do with magnesium deficiency (then confirmed by midwife) so am now taking a daily multivitamin. No idea if it'll work, but worth a shot...

Tonic water is good for restless legs and there is potassium in bananas which is good for leg cramps.
