Hi everyone, I'm 9 weeks pregnant and really, really struggling with headaches at the moment. Paracetamol hasn't helped. Can anyone recommend anything else? Thanks!

Do you normally get headaches? Have you had your blood pressure checked recently? Are you well hydrated ?

Those 4Head sticks are good. I had migraines up until about 14-16 weeks and then they passed thankfully!

I've been struggling with headaches too.

After checking there's nothing sinister going on (high blood pressure etc) I've just been taking paracetamol every so often and using that 4head stick thing. I've had early nights whenever possible too.

The pregnancy headaches suck so hope yours go soon.

I used to get headaches when I was on the pill but they stopped when I came off. My blood pressure is fine too and I've been drinking more water than usual. I think I'll have to send the hubby out for the 4head stick. Thanks guys!

I has these when I was 20 weeks or so pregnant-now 28 weeks, it didn't help that it was so humid during the Summer I guess and I'd also cut down on caffeine but as you say paracetamol didn't touch it! Someone on here suggested full fat coke which worked instantly for me-I mentioned this to my osteopath and he told me caffeine is a form of pain relief so he wasn't surprised that it worked, he said it was hormonal-my hospital consultant was less than helpful and looked horrified at the coca cola idea and finally said I could take codeine in a really small dose if I really needed too!

Get your BP checked asap. It can go up in a flash.

Mine went from 112/78 to 168/97 in about 3/4 weeks. I'd had terrible headaches almost daily in that time and just put it down to hormones etc.

I'm on medication now but headaches stopped immediately. Well worth a quick check.

It could just be hydration and hormones. I keep getting splitting headaches over one eye. I find forcing a pint of water if I can and sleep helps if I can get to sleep.

I’m glad I’m not alone with the horrible headaches! I’ve had a headache pretty much every day for the last month or so and nothing touches them! I’ve cut out sugar thinking it was that that was aggravating them, no dice. BP and urine checks are all fine so I’ve booked myself an eye test for next week to see if an optician can tell me any more. WIll also try the 4Head as I do find a cool flannel on my head very soothing, as well as sometimes face massage/acupressure points. I’m hoping it’s either eye strain or just tension headaches, but they are so out of the ordinary for me that it’s starting to worry me even though my midwife doesn’t seem fussed!

I had crippling headaches with both of my boys. Absolutely awful and it can be totally normal so don't worry [flower] however if it makes you feel better then I'd get checked. They do go eventually! Mine crippled me in first trimester and some of second but gradually tapered off and didn't bother me too much in third at all. Good luck! Smile
