Cyclizine Hydrochloride??

heatherxo · 28/09/2017 19:10

Doc has given me cyclizine hyrdochloride for sickness/nausea.
I took 1 around 12:45 this afternoon. Since then I have been sick around 7 times, I feel woozy, dizzy and faint and I just feel really weird and sick.
Is this normal? I'm only 8 weeks

I have no idea of normal. But I was prescribed this for hyperemisis (sorry spelling)
It didn't really help. I ended up taking it alongside another anti sickness med.
It only took affect during later part of pregnancy when sickness was still there but not as intense.

allthingsred · 28/09/2017 19:17

Maybe ring 111 make sure your not dehydrated. It's a big risk with sickness

Hairgician · 28/09/2017 19:18

When did you last eat and drink? Are you keeping anything down? When did you last have a wee?

If it keeps up like that tonight and unable to keep anything down for 24hrs or more ring your gp and tell them what's happening. You may need to go to hospital for iv fluids. Dont try to hack it out, get seen.
I'm literally just home today after my second stay in hospital in a week! Now alternating 2 sickness tablets every few hours to keep on top of it. Hoping this works! You have my sympathies.

Ive been on cyclazine and prochloperazine since week 4 due to extreme morning sickness and vertigo. The symptoms you describe are how I normally feel, except without the vomiting.

I think you should ring NHS111 for advice. Thats a lot of vomiting in a short space of time and you really don't want to become dehydrated.

Hope you feel better soon!

heatherxo · 28/09/2017 19:47

I last ate at 12:30. I've been sipping on water, but I'm just bringing that back up too.
I feel shaky, and really hot to touch.
You know when you feel that bad you just feel so sorry for yourself haha Sad

I really think you need to call a Dr, shaky and hot to the touch isn't a good combo

Hairgician · 28/09/2017 20:53

Oh if hot and shaky then ring doc now.

heatherxo · 28/09/2017 20:57

Ok so I'm not hot anymore, seemed like it was just a passing phase.
I feel very "spaced out", and I physically can't sit up without feeling really sick.
Still debating whether to call or not as I don't want to end up wasting hospital time..

I took it , normal to feel tired with it .
If you’re keeping nothing down and feeling awful you might be dehydrated . I had hyperemesis and a sigh of dehydration was chain vomiting and a temperature. Please call and get to see someone tonight Flowers

Fernanie · 28/09/2017 21:04

No, definitely call the doctor, that's what they're there for. Some people just don't get on well with cyclizine and there are other options available, like metaclopramide or ondansetron, that might agree with you better. It might take something as simple as switching your meds (and maybe giving you some fluids if you're dehydrated) to get you feeling better.

GoingRogue · 28/09/2017 21:10

You have my sympathy OP. I had hyperemesis from week 4/5 and it's horrific. Tried various different anti-emetics and settled on Cyclizine in the end, but we're all different.

You need to stay hydrated. If you can't keep anything down then you'll need IV fluids in hospital. If it does turn out to be hyperemesis then there's an amazing long-running thread run by the lovely Lucinda over on the pregnancy boards. The people on there kept me sane when I was bed-bound for weeks.

Good luck Flowers

heatherxo · 28/09/2017 21:17

Thanks ladies. I phoned NHS 24 and have been given a 3 hour call back time slot

KenDoddsDadsDog · 28/09/2017 21:59

Hope you feel better soon , it’s the absolute worst .

AliciaMayEmory · 28/09/2017 22:03

I was prescribed this withy second DC and it did nothing to help with the nausea or vomiting and made me really really sleepy. I stopped taking it in the end as I was gagging just trying to swallow them.

Hope that the call back is of help, OP. Pregnancy sickness is awful.

Ts27 · 28/09/2017 22:21

I'm so sorry to hear you're feeling crap. I was the same a few months ago. These tablets didn't do anything for me but make me really sleepy. Definately contact your doctor asap- you don't want to leave it to the point you are dehydrated. Good luck x

Lemondrop99 · 28/09/2017 22:28

The spaced out feeling I'd almost certainly the cyclizine. It's an antihistamine which has a sedative effect. I had a similar problem with promthezine.

Unfortunately the amount you are vomiting sounds like you may have the start of HG Sad Please check out this website and do not hesitate to go back to your GP and ask for something else if the cyclizine isn't helping.

Another one who found all they did was make me really sleepy.

lollipop7 · 28/09/2017 22:40

Hope you feel much better soon (sorry pressed post too quickly )
