I've made the mistake of weighing myself today and am the same weight as when I was full term with my DS and am only 23 weeks! Is this normal?

DH has been saying all week how huge I am and he thinks I am the same size as when I gave birth last time?

I've got 17 weeks to go and have an insatiable appetite, whats a girl to do?

DH said this morning: How come you look fatter than all the women in the pregnancy book who are at your stage? Harumph. This was just as I was sneaking two of DS's Easter Smarties. He's really paranoid that I will never get ba my pre-pregnancy figure (minbd you, he moaned about that being overweight as well!) We have a choclate ban but surely Snarties don't count? And why is it OK to ban chocolate when DH is happy to sit down with a beer of an evening? I have put on just over ten kilos since those two blue lines. So has DH! I'm at 28 weeks now, so according to the websites and my doctor, this is my full weight gain. I ate my low fat, full of veg dinner an hour ago and I am already starving. Sick of Ryvita and fruit...maybe that's it, and I'm turning into a pear....
Solace, please?

I chucked my scales away when I got pregnant, in retrospect it was the best thing I did. It's just a number. Have a choccy!

LadyTophamHatt · 08/04/2007 16:18

When I was 4.5 months PG with Ds4 Dh looked at me in shock one day and siad
"How in gods name can you only be 4.5 months...you've got ages to go yet""

I have no tidea haw he hadn't noticed until that particua;r day but I was massive by the time I was full term.

willywonkasEgghunt · 08/04/2007 16:19

22 wks gone with an arse the size of Western Europe at the moment - why it has to grow at the same rate as my belly, I don't know, but wouldn't be surprised to find a twin down there!!

Wintersun · 08/04/2007 16:20

I know how you feel. I never really shifted all my baby weight first time round and now that I'm 14 weeks pregnant, I am huuuuge.
I take comfort in people telling me 'Oh you always put weight on really quickly with the second, but it comes off quickly too'!

I am going to try to eat sensibly now and try to cut out the junk. I really don't want to have 6 stones to shift in October!

LadyTophamHatt · 08/04/2007 16:44

after posting in this thread I thought I look at some old photo and found a PG one of me.

It's on my profile, the tiny photo does it no justice though.....I had 3 weeks to go to then too.

tribpot · 08/04/2007 16:47

I took full note of Miriam Stoppard's words in the pregnancy book that "bars of chocolate should be avoided". So had chocolate in all forms except bars Smarties definitely don't count.

jampot · 08/04/2007 16:49

my GP actually said to me whilst pregnant "my goodness you are like a beached whale"

willywonkasEgghunt · 08/04/2007 16:49

Also jaffa cakes are perfectly reasonable - 1g of fat per "cake", plain chocolate is good for you and the orangey bit counts as one of your five a day

Hopeitwontbebig · 08/04/2007 18:45

Urgh, I know what you mean. Some of us poor poor gals are just predisposed to put on loads when having them babies!! I was MASSIVE when I had DS2, really really big. Fortunately got back down to 10st after, took some doing but I got there. This time I haven't pigged as much but I've managed to reach the 12st threshold and I've got 24 weeks to go!!!!!!!!!!! Thank goodness they've stopped weighing now!! Think I should stop getting on those scales at home too.

tinkerbellhadpiles · 08/04/2007 19:39

willywonkasEgghunt -ooh you little so and so, misguiding our lovely preggy friends. They are 1g of fat which equals NINE calories, or 25% of the calories in them - if they are still 40 calories each. The sugar represents 68% of the rest of the calories if I remember rightly. So you are left with 7% actual 'food' in a jaffa cake. Which is protein so hey, what the hell, it's Atkins!

tinkerbellhadpiles · 08/04/2007 19:40

I refused to be weighed during my pregnancy, they could see I wasn't a skinny minny, it would only depress me. They thought I was being difficult so I took along a copy of the NICE guidelines saying there is no point weighing you during pregnancy and put them on the scales each time instead. Eventually they got the point!

mum2george · 08/04/2007 21:21

But she's right about the orangey bit being one of your five a day!

Mum2George - that'd be in the 'complete crap' section of the wheel of food health then?

My DH insists wine is a fruit!

paulaplumpbottom · 08/04/2007 21:41

I think you put on a bit more with each pregnancy

mum2george · 15/04/2007 11:22

Tinkerbellhadpiles

My dh also insists that chips count towards your 5 a day!

I told my parents today that I'm pg (they were over the moon).
I'm nearly 13 weeks and don't yet have a bump. My mother said, 'Oooooooooooooh, you've got a little bump'. I didn't have the heart to tell her it was flab

izzzie · 15/04/2007 21:19

i have been addicted to mini eggs for weeks now and don't dare step on the scales. last time i went on i had put on 1.5 stones and i've still got three months to go.
SOD IT....
