dear folks - i have a really tender part of my tummy. it is up where i think this LO's bum is. it is so tender that i cant bear anything on it - it feels raw on the inside. screamed in a shop earlier when someone brushed against it. does anyone else have this & any tips on how to deal with it.

I had this with DS or something v similar, feels like a burn but theres nothing to see on the skin? I mentioned it to mw and she didn't know either, it went once i'd had him probably is just tissues being stretched to their max. There was nothing that soothed it really, cold flannels helped a bit but mostly psychologically!!!

On the left side near ribs?
Nerve damage

my sister had this, ended up in the antenatal ward for a few days while they ummed and ahhed and then decided it was nothing to worry about ! could try leaning on a gym ball or on all fours to try and wriggle him into a slightly different position? warm bath, a paracetomal if it is so painful and some quiet time..

is the pain on your left or right? is it just below the ribs?

it sounds like it is probably over-stretched ligaments/muscles BUT I would call your midwife and get her to check your BP & urine for protein just in case... Epigastric (upper abdomen) pain is a symptom of pre-eclampsia, and can develop suddenly, so PE should always be ruled out. I had PE with DS and my first major symptom was epigastric pain which at first I thought was some form of severe heartburn, and which the docs at first thought was gallstones. It took over a week for PE to be diagnosed!

Hope everything is ok xxxxx

it is my right side - half way down belly. i treied the cold compress idea earlier but no real ease. i have a mw / antenatal 2morro with scan so will mention it as i cant imagine letting the sonographer near it as is.

Hi weeonion, just wondering how you got on today? hope everything's ok and the pain is easing somehow xx

weeonion · 09/04/2007 22:54

hi there - went to the day care centre today. i rang last night as it was so sore. mw had a feel and followed by scan to check it out in case it had anything to do with the placenta. they think it is a "hotspot" and from what i understand - its where the tummy muscles have ripped apart vertically - leaving a tender bit, like a small hernia. i just have to be careful with it. i am due in just over a week so to be honest whilst it is sore - i am not gonna stress about. plus today meant i got to have one last look at the baby before she is here!

thanks for the comments and ideas folks
