@bakingmad83 that’s a cracking idea re DS getting used to things before baby arrives. We built the crib last night and he was having a good look at it this morning. He seems really excited which I’m happy about!
Will get the bouncer built and out too.

Had a dream last night that my waters broke. Was bloody devastated when I woke up and realised it was a dream!

Ideally I’d like to go into labour after my strep results are back! We don’t have DSS this weekend though so that would also be ideal. As cruel as it sounds it will just be a logistical nightmare trying to arrange childcare for 2 instead of just 1!

The next weekend we don’t have him is the one AFTER the due date Shock

AmandaP86x · 19/10/2017 11:10

I got a wee 4d scan yesterday in my work how bloody clear is this!!! Never thought I would coo over a scan pic!!!! 😂😂

I have my next appt on 3rd November think that’s my 28 week one!

Beautiful scan pic amanda and glad things are going well dollydaydream.

Had my 28 week appointment yesterday (although am 29 today) and mentioned that my movements had changed position so didn't feel quite as strong and they sent me off for a trace. 5 hours later we were finally let go so didn't get home until midnight. I was sat in the waiting room whilst being absolutely battered from the inside by baby and in my heart of hearts knowing everything was ok but was definitely reassuring to check!

AmandaP86x · 19/10/2017 12:55

Aww @Sophsta I’m kinda the same! Mines change quite a lot. He’s been kinda quiet today but I have felt him kick. It’s so hard isn’t it not to panic. I’m glad everything is ok.

Aww @Dollydaydream2829 nice to hear from you glad your both doing well xxx

BellaMoon · 19/10/2017 14:22

thanks @bakingmad83 for the test info. the info in scotland isn’t that clear but there does seem to be a test when in labour, i think!

@Anna2006 let us know how you get on at appt xx

@AmandaP86x i always gush at scan pics. that is so clear! fab love it! xx

@Ohb0llocks cracking story of when you got your BFP 😂 love it. mine was rather boring but was still mega shocked as had got BFN the night before which softened the blow, i thought for the FMU test. so when the i got my squinty line in the morn, i was mega shocked! aww that’s a shame about the dream, so close tho! xx

@Sophsta bet you’re glad you mentioned the movement change tho, 5 hours is a long time but the reassurance is worth it. xx

@Dollydaydream2829 sorry if iv missed a post but are you back home again now? i bet the night feeds are tough, i love my sleep so i’ll definitely struggle but so so true what you say, one wee look at their faces and we will melt! i’m sure wee Olivia will come on leaps and bounds now xx

i had my growth scan and diabetes review at 11 and that’s us just out the hospital! so, shockaroony baby is MASSIVE! he is measuring 6lbs 1oz and 20.5 inches head to heal. so basically at 31+1 i have a new born inside me! we did ask how accurate the scan is likely to be (as i know they’re renowned to be way off). consultant said “iv only known them to be a few ounces out”! DH almost fainted as he saw the measurements before me. i was too busy looking at the baby’s face to notice the measurements on the screen lol. so, insulin has commenced which i’m actually feeling better about as i hope this will work as the pills haven’t helped at all. they reviewed my diet sheet and said i could be eating more but i feel full all the bloody time. so evening injections and pills it is. further growth scan in 2 weeks and hopefully he’s steadily growing rather than excessively growing. if he gradually grows ill be induced/sectioned 38wks circa 6th dec. if he is a lot bigger in 2 weeks i’ll be sectioned 37 weeks 😵

the only scan pic that we can make out is of his boy bits (we asked them to confirm it was a boy as they didn’t at 20wk scan) so won’t bother uploading. he was wriggling about too much for a clear pic. he was still sucking his thumb which he has done at every scan. xxx

AmandaP86x · 19/10/2017 14:47

Aww @BellaMoon that’s good u got to see ur wee one 😊 yeno I don’t think I would be bothered about getting my baby early ha ha!!! He’s going to be so cute and chubby I love that ha ha!!! So have they said u r 31 weeks? What did u think u were? Xx

Anna2006 · 19/10/2017 14:55

Amanda omg lush look at his little nose!! Such a clear picture. It's amazing.

@bellamoon oh wow! That's is a big baby at 31 weeks already! So are you starting on insulin injections from today? Hopefully it gets things under control and he starts to grow a bit more steadily. He will be here early aswell though and avoid any Xmas day surprise babies lol.

Appointment went well, she didn't measure me as said wouldn't be accurate as I'm not 25 weeks until Sunday. But baby was happy in there and everything else looks good. So next appointment is my consultant one at hospital to start blood thinner injections mid November. So I have a while to chill out as yet so gonna enjoy next 4 uncomplicated weeks lol

Xxx

Pranpreeya157D · 19/10/2017 16:49

Hi ladies
I'm 32 weeks pregnant and due in December, can I join?Blush

BellaMoon · 19/10/2017 17:20

yeah i am 31+1, EDD 20/12 however either due to genetics (i’m 5’9 and DH 6’3) or the gestational diabetes, baby is measuring as the average for 38wks gestation. no miscalculation with last period or anything like that.

insulin injections will start tonight with dinner
and then again before bed. that’s when my glucose monitoring was always high. so hopefully that will help regulate things and keep baby’s growth steady rather than excelling like it obviously has.

i have now completely forgotten about weeks 38+ of this pregnancy as they won’t happen. so, 6 weeks 6 days and counting... fan-bloody-tastic!!!! i was reassured today that 38weeks is considered full term for a lot of circumstances so he will be as developed as he needs to be.

will decide nearer the time if section or induction. to be honest, i don’t fancy birthing such a big baby given my pubic injury but i also feel like i’d miss out not experiencing labour. i’ll rely on the expertise of the consultant who will advise based on baby’s shoulder width in the coming weeks!

now off to check sizes on all our baby grows 😂

@Anna2006 love that your appt went well. and great attitude to your next 4 uncomplicated weeks. i do feel a bit like i had taken my health for granted up til GD diagnosis but hey ho, we will do whatever it takes to take care of these babies xx

😘

Moo31 · 19/10/2017 17:51

@Anna great that your app went well - on the countdown now! :)

@Dolly good to hear from you and can't believe Olivia is 11 days already!

@ohb I did my group b strep test and posted it on Monday - felt like i violated myself lol! A girl I know had premie twins and one of them was in icu as she wasn't tested and he got infected. That was over 5 years ago and it's always stuck with me so it was definitely something I wanted to do. Oh braved the storm to post the samples so hopefully they have received them ok! I asked them to email and text the results so hopefully get them soon. Apparently 1/2000 babies get it so the cost outweighs the benefit of routine testing ... (!) I am definitely symptom spotting too - still flitting from constipation and the runs and every time it's the latter I'm convinced my body is clearing itself out!

@Soph that's a long wait but great to get reassurance :)

Jeez @Bella what a ride you have had! Hopefully the insulin helps and some of the first baby gros fit ds lol! Great you will get to meet him 2 weeks early - I would love to meet baby early! I got out of work early on monday due to the storm - every cloud and all that! We didn't get battered too bad. Some people in my hometown were evacuated due to do an expected tidal surge but nothing came of it thank goodness!

Moo31 · 19/10/2017 17:53

@Amanda hope you get your bathroom in soon! We had a 12 month list when we moved in 2.5 years ago ... bathroom got done in Feb and there's a guy here right now finishing our new front door and new windows .... might finally get the nursery sorted this weekend!! I'm 37 weeks tomorrow lol

Ohb0llocks · 19/10/2017 20:09

@Pranpreeya157D corse you can!!

I was measured at 37cm the other day, think he’s estimated to weigh just above 7lbs at the minute. Bloody hope he chills out a bit DS was 8lb 10 and made a bit of a mess!

Back at antenatal on tues for another blood pressure check. Hoping it’s not creeped back up. I feel fine though. Maybe I’ll be able to convince them to have a bit of a rummage up there since I’ll be 37 weeks. Don’t want to encourage anything till I’ve got the strep results back though just incase!

@Moo31 well I’d never heard of it until a friend mentioned it and for the cost it’s not even worth the most minute risk!

Pranpreeya157D · 19/10/2017 21:33

Well I went to GP today for routine checked up,all good though just a bit about baby position but still way to go yet, I'm only 32 weeks anyway, they said still a couple week for the baby to turn, well keep up with my walking then ay?

AmandaP86x · 19/10/2017 23:13

@BellaMoon aww I hope it’s ok with insulin. That’s crazy how that happens isn’t it lol! Like I think mines will be massive too 😂🙈 not long until u meet ur wee bundle I’m so jealous ha ha!!!!!

@Moo31 ok u made me feel better haha!!!! I know I still have 13 odd weeks so I’m ok the now! I am still pressuring DP every min though cause he’s so laid back he’s bloody horizontal!!!!! Honestly lol !!!

I Defo need to go and buy some new clothes!!! I am kicking about like a pure tramp! Going to just go to primark and get some jumpers tshirts hoodies etc. Comfort is the key!!!!! Haha!

I’m nightshift tomorrow then off Saturday and Sunday so that’s nice.

Does anyone have any nice plans?

I also have a wedding and my baby shower coming up FUCK knows what I am going to wear honestly 🙈🙈🙈🙈

bakingmad83 · 20/10/2017 05:49

Glad to hear Olivia is doing well Dolly. I don't think you can really appreciate how hard the sleepless nights are till you're actually in them. The length of feeds do reduce over time, but remember what it's like in the early weeks, they take so long to feed and then in no time they're ready for another. Think the best way is to see feeding as a full time job till they're a few months old and expect to do not much else during the day/night. I'd read that if you can get through the first 6 weeks of breastfeeding, you can keep going, as by then you've done most of the hard work to get your supply up.

Keeping a eye on their movements can be a worry Sophsta can't it, but sounds like your wait was worth it to get reassurance.

Goodness, you've got a big lad already Bella. I guess maybe the consultant is right re accuracy, as people on here/in real life probs only talk about the babies that were particularly smaller/bigger than suggested by scan. Know when I had growth scan at 34 weeks with DS his estimated weight at 40 weeks was exactly 8lb and he arrived at 40+3 weighing 7lb 14oz so pretty much spot on for him. Hopefully insulin will help control growth to allow you to get to 38 weeks, but even 37 weeks is full term and baby is just in there for extra growth the remaining weeks. You have a definite countdown to meeting baby now, exciting times!

Just read it was a good idea to introduce siblings to baby bits before their arrival Ohb0locks. We put the baby car seat in with DS's last weekend and let him choose a cuddly toy as a travelling companion till his sister arrives :)

Hope you get sorted with some new clothes Amanda. I just spend my days in yoga pants/leggings and sweatshirts unless I'm going out somewhere a bit more special. Think home working maybe just made me lazy with my clothes choices :)

Welcome Pranpreeya :) I was told DD was breech till scan at 34 weeks showed head down even though just a minute before midwife and doc had confirmed manually she was breech! Walking sounds a good idea and using an exercise ball if you have one Spinning babies website has other ideas for turning babies yourself too.

Saturday we've got tour of maternity unit then Sunday we're going up to Carlisle for the day. Taking DS to this play centre that is set out like a little town with various shops etc for them to enjoy role play - makes a change from soft play :) Also going to get measured for a nursing bra (not that I think I've gone up at all during pregnancy, but know I will once milk comes in) and going to try out a new Indian restaurant that serves stuff other than your bog standard curries to satisfy my spice cravings :)

lydiangel83 · 20/10/2017 06:41

Am I too late to join with a 1/11 due date?!

Roseandbee · 20/10/2017 16:27

Just having a catch up on the thread, hope everyone’s doing well.

Bella glad you enjoyed seeing the baby, that’s crazy he’s already 6lb. I think they say 37 weeks is full term. The insulin shots don’t sound fun, it’s mad you have a date soon or when you’ll meet your baby though! Exciting.

Amanda that’s such a great scan pic! I’m dithering wether to get one done, I’m slightly put off that I have anterior placenta so it might make it harder.

A Midwife the other week was saying the reason they don’t do strep b tests is that they are not that accurate, as people who get the all clear could still either have it or have it by the time the give birth (I can’t quite remember) although I suppose it’s accurate if it tells you, you have got it, 🤔

Glad to hear your doing well Dolly, I don’t know how I’ll cope with the not sleeping. I’m always tired as it is, my doc reckons I have fibromyalgia which means my quality of sleep is poor, I tend to try and get at least 9hrs to make me feel ok:-/ not sure what effect sleep deprivation will have if I already have chronic fatigue.

@sophsta glad all checked out well, I’m really not sure about the movement monitoring, I’m 27 weeks today. Not noticed a pattern, I think anterior placenta doesn’t help. When my midwife listened in last week she cud hear movements I cudnt feel.

Hope your blood pressure stays down ohb, can’t believe how close you and moo are now. I’m looking fwd to some more pma babies on the thread

Moo31 · 20/10/2017 17:43

I got my group b strep results today - all clear phew! Fx they are accurate! The cost v benefit thing was what the midwife quoted me @Ohb. I think £40 is a v small price to pay for my baby's safety. For those wondering I got mine from this website www.strepelle.com/

@Pran - I was breech until between 34-36 weeks so still plenty of time for baby to turn!

@Amanda I forgot to say how amazing the 4D scan is - beautiful! Can you tell who baby looks like?! I am so lucky to have gotten away without buying very much - I had some floaty tops from years ago that I have worn for work - I am down to 2 tops and 2 dresses for work so thank goodness I finish next week! Then I bought 1 pair over bump jeans, 1 pair underbump jeans and 2 pairs of leggings. I stocked up on some tshirts and long sleeve tops from primark and new look and they have been fab and were cheap too! Happy shopping! I saw a meme of a pg woman that said "if I can't wear leggings I am not going" - comfort is definitely key!! Fx you get your bathroom in soon! I am off home to see my new woodburning stove ... with mental images of me all cosied up with baby on a frosty winters night and the fire going - bliss!

@baking - weekend sounds amazing! especially the indian part!! :) any advice on nursing bras? I bought some a few months ago - imagining I was a bit premature on that? where will you get yours and will you get them in the size you are now or a size up?

bakingmad83 · 20/10/2017 20:35

You never know Rose, you may have a baby who sleeps well from early on, I've met lots of people with them :) A friend had her DD 3 weeks ago and by day 5 she was sleeping at least a 6hr stretch at night. Mind you, I'm not sure about going up to 8hrs in a newborn without a feed though, as remember the midwife who first came out to see me the day after we went home said up to 5hrs was OK if feeding well in the day, but maybe hers is a really efficient feeder during the day. Hopefully your DP can help out during the night. I'm lucky that I seem to be able to manage on very little sleep, but my DH can't, so that's why it's largely been me up nearly every night and early morning since DS arrived.

Tbh Moo I'm a bit of a cheap skate, so with DS my nursing bras were from Aldi and slight seconds from ebay, as didn't want to part with much money. I guessed and went a cup size up last time, didn't even get measured, as again didn't change in pregnancy. Seemed to work ok doing that, but guess everyone is different. Think they say not to get measured till 36/37 weeks, but imagine the lady doing the measuring will give advice re whether to buy in current size or up. I'm planning to go to M&S in Carlisle and just get the measurements and again get some cheapies from somewhere. I've a small cup size though, so maybe can get away with doing this more than someone with a larger cup size who needs a better bra for support. Re your woodburning stove, sounds lovely :) DH would love one, so maybe at our next house!

Can't remember if I said, but our local Aldi has reduced their raspberry leaf tea special buy to 99p a pack if anyone wants to get them to try/stock up.

Pranpreeya157D · 20/10/2017 21:19

Ladies,
any suggestions about The Birth Plan? I haven't git a clue and also what's hospital you're with? Mind with UCLH.... any recommendations?

bakingmad83 · 20/10/2017 21:29

I'm in Cumbria Pranpreeya, so not much choice for where I give birth, as only one hospital within a sensible drive.

As far as birth plan goes, this link may help you out with what to include www.babycentre.co.uk/a544479/writing-a-birth-plan

Moo31 · 20/10/2017 21:56

I'm not doinf a birthing plan @pran - I feel like I would be setting myself up for a fall if things didn't go how I want them to. Hoping I won't regret not doing one! I'm in NI so not much choice here either but I'm going midwifery led which I'm really happy about!

@baking - I'm a cheapskate too! My sister calls me TAA - Tight Arse Accountant!! That sounds good my mum and i are shopping tomorrow so I'll nip in somewhere and get measured. I think I saw cheap ones in asda too! What about your house?? Any offers?

Anna2006 · 20/10/2017 22:46

You would not believe how much I've spent on bras already 🙈🙈 DH has bought me fair few of my maternity bits and I have one pair jeans, one pair leggings and like 6/7 tops to match up. An then other stuff I'm making do for now. But bras..Jesus wept.

I'm skinny with a big bust. Don't know how God worked out that would be a good idea. So finding smaller backs with big cups is hard work and means expensive 😞 I had a massive pregnancy meltdown the other week when my new bra id bought was rubbing at work & had to head to mothercare to buy another two new ones. Which seemed such a waste of money. But they are much better thank god! But figure they need to be right to be supported properly as otherwise my poor frame might topple over with my boobs and bump weight at the front 😂

I've awkwardly noticed lots of men not looking at my face when they talk to me either. Bloody men. Yes there boobs. Yes there big. Extra big infact at the moment as I'm pregnant. Look at my fucking face for god sake. Haha 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤰🤰

Roseandbee · 20/10/2017 23:48

Well I’ve got my fingers crossed baking! Me and DH are both big sleepers so let’s hope the baby inherits that, otherwise we are screwed. Its def gonna be a shock to the system.
I’ve also been a bit of a cheapsgate maternity wear wise, I’m still fitting into a lot of normal stuff depending on the style. I bought a set of stretchy nursing bras to hopefully see me through off amazon, although I imagine they won’t be great support for bustier ladies. And a few bits on sale to see me through. Got a few events coming up round Christmas though, so hopefully something nice will fit. I’m hoping to make a Christmas jumper out of an old stretchy brown one I have (I’m thinking Christmas pudding lol)

I’ve just looked into strep b as a bit confused what the Midwife meant, it says strep b comes and goes so there’s no point to test throughout pregnancy. But looks like it’s worth while to do it closer to your due date. Glad your all clear Moo, one less thing to worry about

AmandaP86x · 21/10/2017 02:56

Fab news about strep b @Moo31 I’m Defo gonna do it nearer time. I think he’s like DP but then I think it just looks like a wee cute baby 😂 lol! People have said straight away it’s like Dp though!!

Bra wise I have resorted to seamless kinda sports bra type ones. They seem comfiest for me especially at work. Asda have them £6 a pop. They wash amazing so Iv stocked up. I got one decent black/white bra from marks for when I’m going out or these bras don’t suit. Bloody brutal I’m not used to boobs !!! 😂

On nightshift but just on a Wee break the now roll on 7am 😐
