I'm 34 weeks pregnant on Friday. I have avoided baths so far as I was worried about them being too hot! Can I have baths now though? How hot is too hot? Thanks!

Sorry baths are safe throughout all pregnancy.

HailLapin · 25/09/2017 20:28

Use the bath thermometer you've bought for your baby , that'll have guidelines on it.

I had lovely hot baths most of the way through both my pregnancies. There's some talk that overheating can cause birth defects but I think that's a bit of an old wives tale and by 34 weeks you're past that anyway. Do it.

I’ve that many aches and pains I have a bath every single night!

Mum2jenny · 25/09/2017 20:33

Baths are good, just make sure you can get out of them!

keeppassingtheopenwindows1 · 25/09/2017 20:41

Haha I hadn't considered getting out! Oh great! I've really wanted a bath but thought they were a no no! Thanks for your help!

In fact I’m in the bath right now (enjoy that mental image Grin)

ScotsLamb · 25/09/2017 20:42

I have a bath once a day. I make sure I don't have the "sweaty, bright red face" type heat when I have a bath. I was pleasantly surprised at how warm a 38 degree bath is. It feels even warmer if you have the window open first.

newmumFeb17 · 25/09/2017 20:43

I had a bath every night towards the end of my pregnancy, it was the only place I could get comfortable! Getting out was difficult though! Enjoy 🙂

Jessiecat27 · 25/09/2017 22:45

It takes me ages to get in or out of my bath, not very relaxing! Haha

Lemonicelolly1 · 26/09/2017 21:54

I'm 34 weeks too and the bath is pretty much the only thing that helps with my aches and pains now! But I do need dp to help me get out of it Blush
Baby also seems to enjoy bath time and moves lots when I'm in bath!

meltingmarshmallows · 26/09/2017 22:51

Bless you I don't think I could have coped without baths! I used a bath thermometer to be safe in the first trimester (they were rubbish and felt cold so didn't stay in long!). But know in Scandinavian counties they have saunas and hot tubs etc and refute there's a link to issues. Still
I aired on the side of caution but since the first trimester have gone back to hot baths and just ensure I stay hydrated.

Amazing for aches and pains but my bum and bump do fill the bath so much if I pull the plug out I have to let the water out from behind me ... I'm like a dam Blush

Enjoy!

You've just reminded me of my pregnancy Flowers I loved a bath but after about 30 weeks wouldn't take one if DH was out because I had visions of getting stuck. DH thought this was hilarious of course. Till he saw me in a bath...

Lemondrop99 · 26/09/2017 23:32

Yep, I nearly got stuck in a bath at 37 weeks and DH was out so he couldn't rescue me. The struggle is real.
