Painful BH's

25+2 having painful tightenings. Not labour painful but defo uncomfortable. I never had Braxton Hicks with my first but I've been told they shouldn't hurt but these definitely do. Anyone else had painful BHs?
As a side note I fell down the stairs yday fracturing my wrist but hospital were happy and she has been moving loads today. These painful tightenings were happening before my fall.

It's defo painful but only in a way that it makes me uncomfortable. I don't start rolling around on the floor in pain. It's like that horrible tummy ache you get when you've eaten too much Sunday roast, which unfortunately I definitely haven't. It does make me gasp to start with and then I can cope. Doesn't last long.

Anyone?

I'm 24+2 and I get BHs occasionally... I'd say they're uncomfortable but not painful. Changing what you're doing (being more/less active or moving to a different position if you're lying down) is supposed to help ease BHs.

I think if they are painful I'd see your GP or MW in case you have a uti or there's something that needs checking out. I find braxton hicks uncomfortable but they usually go if I drink loads of water and rest a bit.

They shouldn't make you gasp.

I have a mw appointment in the morning anyway so I shall speak to her about it. I guess there's a possibility they're not even Braxton hicks. 🤔

I had nasty BHs through my first pg from 22 weeks onwards. They made me nigh on gasp....v uncomfortable and so bad 3 weeks before due, that they thought I might be in labour. I was def having mild regular contractions but they stopped. DS came a week later, 2 weeks early. I had BHs through the other 2 pgs too and was told that they're all practice and that the labours might be quicker. Dd1 was 3 hours from start to finish and dd2, 5 hours. 😁

Hi I had painful BH's, I was told it was called "irritable urterus". They were triggered by movement/walking. By 33 weeks they were very painful when they started. By 38 weeks, walking around the supermarket was agony. I would manage to walk down a couple of aisles then they would start. After that each aisle involved stopping to breath through the contractions..... yes they felt like early labour contractions. But they would stop as soon as I stopped and rested. Though not recommended outside of labour, I was using a tens machine in order to live a normal life for the last few weeks of my second and third pregnancies. (I never had braxton hicks with my first either)

It is important to check that it is not a UTI or a risk of premature labour...... so do get checked by the midwife/docs.

Went to midwife today and defo no UTI. I was sure it wasn't one anyway. She wasn't too concerned. She just said if they do become any worse to contact her or my consultant. Maybe I'm just a wuss.

Very happy baby after my fall at the weekend though which made me happy 🎉
