Get two of everything. One upstairs one downstairs. Saves going up and down fetching things all day. Anything you can cheaply buy twice that you'll use up, get two! For example, nipple cream, calpol, painkillers, nipple shields.
I had a mini crate of baby stuff, and a mini crate of mum stuff, on the coffee table initially (Matching ones upstairs) so everything was I need reach. Literally you can park yourself on the sofa feeding and have all the essentials easily.
Get amazon prime. Then anything you need you can get delivered the next day.
Download a white noise app on an old phone or tablet. I still have the seashore playing at night and my daughter is two and a half.
I downloaded a baby tracking app. Tracked feeds, poop, sleep etc. Was helpful when the midwife/health visitor asked how many nappies or feeds per day. You can't remember that, no sleep newborn haze means you forget. Also when baby is older and you give calpol for teething, logging it means both parents can easily see when the last dose was. Because lack of sleep will mean you forget that too!
