Measuring ahead

Anyone been measuring ahead throughout your pregnancy? Did you have them earlier or were they large babies if on due date or over due?

My Edd was not determined from last period as I was on the pill so they said it didn't reflect a true period. They estimated my date on my 10 week scan. Ever since then each scan I've measured ahead. Baby has looked bigger on each scan than other people's photos. Quite noticeably and I've had comments from sonographer to say she looks chubby or big etc. I've measured bump wise 2 weeks ahead each time. Now at 30 weeks I'm measuring 3 weeks ahead. My bump seems to have gotten pretty low the last week.. Everyone literally thinks I'm over due or nearly due.

Just wondering everyone else's experience with this? I'm a ftm. Pic for attention.

In the UK, pregnancies are dated by first scan which is around 12weeks. Babies are a certain size at this scan and that's how it works. A lot of people measure above or under their gestation. I measured 4cm from 28weeks and at 36weeks scan showed a huge baby.. which he was. At 41+3 he was born at 10lb 5oz. My scan date was two days ahead of my own dates. This time round I'm looking pretty enormous, not measured yet as only 24weeks. Again my scan date put me 2days ahead

My scan date out me 2-3 weeks behind my dates though. That's what I find unusual and how low bump is now. I don't mind a big baby but worried that she will come earlier than anticipated so just wanted some reassurance really

So from my last period I would have been due around 10 November instead of 29 November where my scan put me.

I've measured weeks ahead with my last 2 pregnancies (8 weeks ahead with this one Blush) my last baby was 8lb 5 and this one is estimated by scan to be around 7lb at 38 weeks. I'm usually mostly water! No gestational diabetes either.

Outnumbered did you have them around due date?

4th was 8lb 5 at 39+2, this one will be born at 38+3 (this Tuesday coming) so looks likely to be smaller than the last by weeks. My other 3 were tiny and I measured bang on for weeks so no clue they were little by the size of my bump.

So far we're 5 days ahead according to baby size. I know when I ovulated :) Apparently it's normal as we're both pretty tall ppl!

DueNov · 23/09/2017 20:45

Me an d my other half aren't tall and I'm measuring 3 weeks ahead by bump. Haven't had a growth scan to know size of baby but they said she feels big!

Both of my boys measured ahead the whoooole way. few weeks ahead especially after 20weeks and it became more so gradually. Eldest was born 9lbs11oz (two days before due date) and my youngest was born 9lbs11.5oz 1 week overdue. They were all height so don't worry about the pushing! Smile

ChocolatePancake · 23/09/2017 21:02

Oh and we weren't tall either but my boys are! Smile

Hey OP my dates changed by a day on my scan but baby measured large and average on different growth scans and i have measured at least 3 weeks bigger since 25 weeks bump wise.

Babies and bumps come in all shapes and sizes!

Your dating scan is the most accurate time to date a pregnancy because its the time when most babies are around the same size for their gestation.

Try not to worry too much about babies size or what your bump is like and relax for the last few weeks before babies arrival 🙂

Thanks all. I wish I could relax. I'm working up to 36-38 weeks and am so uncomfortable already. I really hope it flies by x
