Hi ladies, well two clear blue tests confirmed I'm pregnant this week went to the doctors and been given a urine test which I've done and handed into hospital how long does this take to come back? My next problem is I'm getting married next week and due to go to mexico on honeymoon the following week... the doctor said I had to ask airline and airline have said no we can't go due to zika risk and I need a letter from doctor confirming pregnancy hence me asking how long urine test from hospital takes. Any advise would be greatly appreciated thanks! Xx

a urine pregnancy test is instant, they tell you about 2 minutes after you give the urine sample

I left it in the green postbox in hospital as dropped it at like 5am where I work shifts shall I call hospital? Should I have waited? Doctor didn't really tell me what to do just told me to take it there

Why has the gp asked u to do sample? .call your go tomorrow morning and ask them to ring the hospital for your result if they haven't already received it through electronically x

I would imagine to confirm i am pregnant? I went into him told him I took home pregnancy test and was positive gave him first date of my last period then he wrote out a form and told me to take it into hospital and wait for a letter back???

The airline cannot tell you you can't fly to Mexico because of a zika risk - you are perfectly entitled to go if you want to.

It sounds like what you actually need to do is contact your travel insurance, firstly check if you're covered in this case- I don't know if pregnancy is the kind of thing you can be insured against in this situation- and if you are, what kind of proof they need. Your airline has nothin to do with this, I doubt they're going to refund your flights because you're pregnant. If they need a doctors letter, then you need to check with your doctor again about what they need to provide that- mine gave me a test in her office, so going to hospital seems odd but it will probably be processed quickly.

Finally, if you booked through a travel agent they may be able to switch you to a different package somewhere without zika risk. I'd ring them immediately and ask. Finally, congratulations! Hope you're able to have an enjoyable honeymoon and not lose money.

Hi all the doctor was the one who told us to contact airline they said the letter is needed to transfer our package to a different destination (if this all makes sense) I rang doctors today and they said they'll do me the letter by Monday so hopefully everything will be sorted early next week before I get married. Thanks for all your advise / help. Also my go practice don't do any testing / treatments literally everything referred back to hospital lol

GPs don't tend to confirm pregnancy nowadays as home tests are just as accurate. And they could dip it there and then, same as we do on the wards. So I'm not sure why they sent off a urine.

Hi OP, i was pregnant and due to travel to Caribbean, i called my travel agent and explained, they allowed to change destination without any confirmation letter etc being needed, just had to pay the difference in cost for the holiday, there should have been a £100 admin fee but the waived it.
Never had to do a urine test for the Dr, they just took my word for it and referred me to midwife care
