Low HCG Levels - should I be worried

I had my positive result last Tuesday with a clear blue and said 1-2. Said it again on Sunday. I've also taken a few others and had negatives.

Today I had a blood test done privately and it came back as positive and level of 52. The doctors table puts me between 3-4 weeks. I am 5 weeks 4 days, although I did ovulate late so could be more like 5 weeks and if i implanted late then i don't know.... hoping thats the case

Just called the maternity helpline and they said 5 weeks can be from 18, but 6 weeks is much higher.

I have no symptoms at all. Just find it all frustrating and worrying as some people online (I know i shouldnt self diagnose) have much higher levels and they say their doctor was worried.

Sad

Did you have a negative on a digital test following your positive? I don't want to freak you out but that's not a great sign if so and could indicate an early loss I'm afraid. It's unfortunately happened to me twice now so I know how rubbish it is. The only way to know for sure is to have more bloods done in a few days and see if your levels have gone up. Hope you're ok x

Hi Hopefully, No, the negative have been the strips. The digital has always been Pregnant 1-2. I just think the levels from the blood test look low and combining that with a stark white strip test (which people say is as good as clearblue) has worried me.

I don't have abdominal cramping or bledding, in fact I have zero symptoms which could be a blessing and a curse :(

Hey OP are they going to do a repeat blood test?... although my levels were slightly higher than yours at 89 i remember the horror in thinking they were low!

The important part to remember is that you need to see an increase of 66 % in 48 hours to confirm a non-failing pregnancy.

In terms of them saying at 6 weeks they are higher its because at 6 weeks you would expect to be able to confirm an interuterine pregnancy using a vaginal ultrasound. To do this they need to see a HCG level of 1500 or higher.

So say for example that you could be 4 weeks today as opposed to 5 weeks (from lmp) you could expect to confirm a pregnancy by:
20th - 52
22nd - 86
24th - 142
26th - 235
28th - 390 (5+1 or 6+1 from lmp)
30th - 647
1st - 1074
3rd - 1782 (5+6 or 6+6 from lmp)

So it is completely plausible that even using the lowest possible HCG increase that late ov could be the cause of your "low" hcg levels...

I hope this helps! ❤️
