Delayed miscarriage.. could they be wrong?

I guess I'm in search for some reassurance, I went for an early internal scan due to slight pain and spotting since Saturday. By my dates I should be nearly 9 weeks, the nurse scanned me and she said the baby is measuring 9mm and she couldn't find a heartbeat. I know it's possible I could have my dates wrong but is it still possible that the baby at that size wouldn't have a heartbeat visible yet? She did say that over 7mm there should be a heartbeat, She was sure that I’m going through a delayed miscarriage. I'm due to go back next week for my options on what to do and she said she will re scan me first. I'm not bleeding heavy it's like a really light period and brown tinged red which is sometimes only there when I wipe ( sorry for tmi ) I've had no clots and I don't have any pain anymore. Is there a chance my baby could have a heartbeat when I go back next week? Im devastated and just feel that this isn't right. I haven’t been sent for blood tests either, My sore boobs and sickness disappeared a week ago and I just thought this was due to my pregnancy progressing as I didn't have much symptoms with my first two xx

I'm sorry, but I think it's very unlikely that the MW is wrong (but always a chance, which is why you'll get re scanned next week).

I've been in that situation, my heart goes out to you, it's such a difficult thing to process mentally Flowers

I'm in a similar situation currently so don't have any advice as I've not experienced this before but just wanted to say you're not alone in this limbo. It's awful, I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy. I've got my second scan on Monday and feeling so sad and lost. I don't feel hopeful about my situation at all as the sonographer said there wasn't a chance. Wish you all the luck in the world and hope you're getting a lot of love and support from the people around you. Xxx

I agree that it's highly unlikely that the MW would be wrong, unless there is any chance you are a whole 4 wks out on your dates?

I've had early scans on 3 out of my 4 pregnancies. First 2 I was scanned at around 6 wks, the heartbeat was visible even then but embryos measured small for dates; both ended in miscarriage at 7 wks. 4th pregnancy had a scan at 6 wks, heartbeat visible but this time embryo measured the right size for dates and thankfully we went on to have a healthy baby.
Never got far enough in 3rd pregnancy for scan.

Sorry I can't offer you any reassurance, just sharing my experience. It is a horrible thing to go through and the waiting for something to happen is heatbreaking too.

I can only add that on my first 2 miscarriages I got pregnant straight away afterwards; by the 3rd we were going for tests so told to wait before trying. So if this is a delayed miscarriage as the MW suggests there is usually no reason not to try again very soon after....
