Hi all

I'm 19 weeks pregnant with baby number 2 and yesterday I experienced a light bleed , it was pink ish with mucus and lasted a couple of hours until going darker in colour and then nothing since...

Never experienced bleeding in pregnancy before and I hadn't had sex for about a week or so before this incident. Also went to A and E and they found baby girls heartbeat (phew!) but didn't examine me or anything just sent me on my way Sad

Has anybody experienced anything similar or found out the cause? Felt baby moving today which is reassuring. Just feel like I haven't got any answers and all health care professionals refuse to examine/scan me or even see me any further now as have 20 week scan next week. Thanks allx

Yes I had a bright red bleed at 20 weeks, went into hospital, put on trace. There was no more bleeding so they just said go home and come back if there was any more. They didn't do a scan or examine me, I wouldn't have expected an examination anyway. There's nothing they can do other than wait and see at that stage, could be any number of reasons for it, most likely irritated cervix or something else equally minor.

Thanks for the replies Smile

I called my midwife and she said the only routes for a referral to gyn or whatever it is at this stage is through gp or A and E. The nurse at A and E said they would check to see if cervix was closed or swab for infection and also do a scan but non of this materialised when I seen the doc. I'm happy that the bleed seems to have stopped and they don't seem concerned but still anxious on where it's come from Confused

You are definitely fine. I had a HUGE bleed at 17 weeks last week, huge as in I left a trail of blood down the hospital corridor and even a nurse freaked out! A horrific experience but baby absolutely fine throughout and the hospital doctor and my GP both saying they aren't that concerned now the bleeding has stopped. Apparently you can bleed lots in pregnancy and still be safe. No possible explanations given.

I'm just coming down from the fright now, and trying to rest and get my confidence back. Hope you can not worry too much and I say don't seek an explanation for the bleed, no one seems interested in explaining them!

Thanks again for the reassurance and glad all the babies were well in the end, def what I want to hear!

I'm hoping no more bleeding arises and baby is moving away so hopefully all ok!

Roll on 20 week scan and diners crossed all ok with that too! What a worry this pregnancy stuff can be!

Does anyone know whether you are more likely to have another bleed, once you've had one?

Hi, sorry I know this post is old but just trying to find people in similar situations. I have a gush of blood at 10 weeks but baby was fine thank god! But it's made me even more nervous than I was before and I've just noticed today that my discharge seems to look very slightly pinky and I'm not terrified of having another bleed, I'm so worried that something will happen to my baby, just need some reassurance and hopefully I'm just over reacting
