Pregnant with twins after twin miscarriage

I'm 10 weeks pregnant with Twins after a twin miscarriage in the spring. I have a 3 year old already.

I made it to 7 weeks last time before bleeding started. Then the babies held of til 9 weeks when 1 died followed swiftly by the 2nd baby. I had surgical management a week later.

On my first try of trying again got pregnant and early reassurance scan showed twins again.

I have been feeling sick and bloated but not actually been sick. I'm 10 weeks today and symptoms have been easing off the last week or so. Which is a worry.

I also just dont feel pregnant. I have absolutely no bump or hardness. Just bloating in evening or after eating. My jeans still fit.

Any twin mums have any advice or reassurance?

I last had a scan 2 weeks ago and heartbeats seen. All looked well.

No bleeding so far this time.

God, I'm a mess! The worry is taking over!

I have no advice regarding twin pregnancies, just wishing you all the best for a healthy pregnancy Flowers symptoms do tend to come and go I found though!

If a heartbeat is seen at 8 weeks, there is upwards of a 96% chance of the pregnancy being viable (chromosomal speaking).

Twin pregnancies are riskier for more mechanical reasons (premature labour etc) but I'd say you are out of the woods for a genetic first trimester miscarriage.

Good luck! Flowers

I find this site oddly comforting...

Symptoms ease off as the placenta begins to and continues to do its amazing job.
Sorry for your loss, it's natural to be worried. Tell your mw though - she is there to help with worries not just physical well being.

Not sure if this is helpful but I know (from having twins) that many women get pregnant with them and reabsorb one without ever knowing they had twins. I've known many women that had 'early' scans and then knew they'd started out with two to end up with one. It's sad but it's also relatively common but upsetting if you knew it had happened. I realised I was relatively unusual not to find out until 12 weeks - but I did feel really tired and sick early on.

Hope it works out well for you

All my rubbish symptoms went for me at 11 weeks and I worried a bit too but had my scan a week later and there was a happy baby. This is quite normal and all pregnancies are different. Like you I didn't feel pregnant for ages!

Thanks all. I guess I'll have to wait for my next scan on Monday. I keep feeling surely Mother Nature wouldn't be that cruel... twins twice this year only to lose them. But you just never know what will happen and nothing is for certain.

I hate unanswered threads, so as the original op I thought I would come back to update. Excuse the name change. Twins were born 4 weeks ago, weighing 6lb 3 and 6lb. Both girls and they are just wonderful! Pregnancy was pretty smooth and I had a natural delivery at 37 weeks. Never give up hope! I can’t believe I lost twins and had the worst time of my life, that was a year ago and now I’m sat here with one in my arms and another in the crib.

Kittie22 · 06/10/2018 07:20

Thanks for the follow up as not a lot of people do and to see a positive outcome is so comforting when you’re going through the same thing.
Congratulations on the babies x
