Period type back pain in early pregnancy

Hi. I have three children. My youngest is 5, middle child is 12 and eldest is 17. I'm 36 and this is a surprise pregnancy so I haven't immersed myself in the world of pregnancy for a long time.
I started getting a dull, period like back pain yesterday and I wondered if others have experienced this in their pregnancies. I'm only just pregnant, but this dull ache in my back makes me feel like I'm going to come on.
Have you experienced early pregnancy back ache before? Did it feel like period back pain? I feel like I could take some paracetamol for this so I'm feeling a little worried!
Thanks for reading!

Congratulations Flowers

I definitely had that disconcerting "I'm going to get my period" feeling with my pregnancies and all was fine. I think it may have lasted a week on-and-off.

I'm 6 weeks and have felt like that for well over a week. I expect to see blood every time I go for a wee. I'm sure I didn't get it with my first 2 but I wonder if it's a mixture of now being a bit older and my body just knowing what's happening so settling in to position already?

Thanks for your replies ladies. I had pink/brown blood on the tissue when I went to the toilet this morning (twice) so I think this pregnancy might not be sticky. Just got a feeling that this pregnancy won't last until the weekend.
Even though it was a surprise, I'm already feeling sad at the thought of this not continuing.
I'm a childminder so can't even take it easy today.

@BoofayTheOompaLoompaSlayer I hope you're ok. I know lots of people who had spotting and kept the baby so keep positive. x

Thank you. I've had bleeding in all my previous pregnancies so I guess I should be used to it by now.

The spotting has subsided (just pale brown when wiping) but my back is really sore. Ever so slightly crampy in my stomach, but nothing more than mild period cramps. Just the back pain coupled with the spotting this morning that's worried me.

Spoken to doctor. She said that it's a case of wait and see. If I'm still pregnant in two weeks she'll book me in for an early scan.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply - I really appreciate it!
