What can local midwife do (at docs) check for dilation/sweeps??

I am 39+4 tomorrow and royally fed up. I have been having symptoms of early labour for over a week. I am seeing midwife tomorrow. Can they actually check your cervix, perform sweeps and stuff or is this something you book elsewhere (and presumably later down the line) just wondering

yes they can check your cervix and perform sweeps although if you are high risk for some reason they may not be able to do the sweep. they won't usually do a sweep before your due date though.

I remember being the same at 39+6 and they refused to do a sweep because I wasn't at term... crying on her made no difference!

Ah ok. I will ask as i am seeing a diff one tomorrow (usual is away). I'm not gonna go all mental just would like to know somethings either happening or try and get the ball rolling. After quite a few days of pain i would be intrigued to know if i am dilated even a little bit....Hmm
