Think I lost or partially lost my mucus plug

I'm 33 weeks and think I have either lost or partially lost my mucus plug.

I had BH, yesterday evening and a mild backache (but nothing out of the ordinary).

When I went to the toilet (TMI alert), I had a light brown coloured blob and slightly watery CM. However, I've had nothing since.

I intend to phone the midwife today and get some advice.

I'm a little worried as I was only admitted last week for a bleed. This resulted in having steroids for baby, which then caused issues as I also have gestational diabetes.

Any advice?

I forgot to add, that what I found in my underwear is not normal from me. I've had lots of visits to the hospital this week, so my urine has been checked (and was clear for a UTI).

When I had that the midwife told me to get to hospital ASAP. Baby was born the same day.

I don't know how typical that is but I'd certainly phone for advice soon as you can.

Ring the labour ward now.

I would definitely give them a call and see what they say but it can be normal to lose bits of your plug throughout pregnancy. When I properly lost mine there was no mistaking it (''twas huge!) sorry, TMI!

There was a fair bit, but not loads. I've also had nothing since.

Hmm

I've been losing mine, in small chunks, very slowly over the last two weeks. Mentioned it to my midwife who said, if there's no blood in it, not to worry. The plug can start dislodging well before labour and can even grow back.

That said, if you've recently been in for a bleed, I would call your midwife for advice.

Hi, I'm 37 +6 with my 4th baby. I lost my plug at 34 weeks and went into the assessment unit to get checked over. They just monitored me and gave me an internal examination and my cervix was closed so they were happy to send me home. I've had nothing since, just the odd contractions. All the midwives I've spoken to about it have said that women can lose their plug up to a few weeks before labour. So I wouldn't worry too much, but get yourself checked over.

demirose87 · 19/09/2017 10:59

Mine was quite a large amount and blood stained should add x

I would go into the hospital for sure. I went in with reduced movements and what I thought was possible waters leaking. They really didn't mind and were very thorough checking me out. I had debated if I should go as didn't want to waste their time but they were very insistent I should have.

Given you've been in already and had steroids I would get down there asap just to put your mind at rest.

Thank you everyone.

I phoned the midwife and then triage. Who seems to think because of the colour it was probably remanents of the bleed I had last week. So good news.

I'm going to keep checking though, as I had a scan today and it appears baby head is quite low down now.
