Argh. Last night contractions/bh Started at 9.30pm every 4-5min. Very painful but not enough to not be able to talk. Waited and waited to ring hosp. Started to lengthen then stopped at 4am. Wtf. Is this normal?? Im shattered. No plug yet.

I had this with all my pregnancies and it was just the baby's head moving right down into position (engaging) so could have been that ? Proper labour didn't start until a week or so later.
Hope you get some rest today.

Wierd coz the top of my belly (under my ribs/boobs) was the bit that went seriously tense. It took my breath away, feeling like my diaphragm was being crushed. Period pains below and lower back pain. Is that the uterus pushing baby down? Last week i was 3/5 engaged.

I could feel a difference when they were fully engaged. My bump was definitely lower and it hurt like you described when they moved down.
If you're worried there's no harm in getting checked at the hospital, especially if you get those pains again. If you feel fine in yourself (albeit tired!) and baby is moving regularly, I'm sure you're fine though.

I had this with my first pg had 12-15 hrs of regular BH/contractions then they disappeared. They never got stronger.

Two days later it started up again but they were getting stronger it was the real deal that time.

Good luck I'm sure it won't be long x

It is normal. My sister had the same situation. In her 38 week, she felt labor pain. She went to hospital at night. There doctors send her to labor room and kept under observation. But after 12 hours nothing happened. They send her back to home. After 1 week of this she gave birth to child. The baby was delivered normal, no c-section. He was healthy and fit. It might be due to the baby position to bear such pain. I myself didn't face miserable pain during my labor. It was just a rare back pain. I thought it is not labor pain. Then midwife told me about it. It was so minimum for me.
