Gaviscon. Straight out the bottle. Have to have it on me all the time!

Princesspinkgirl · 17/09/2017 19:17

Gav is fine

Lules · 17/09/2017 19:21

Omeprazole is fine but is recommended only if gaviscon hasn't worked. I'm now 39 weeks and nothing fucking works any more

confusedat23 · 17/09/2017 19:24

Try Rantadine honestly as someone who suffered terrible ulcer causing acid its a life saver!

Plop5 · 17/09/2017 19:25

Not eating wheat stopped my very bad heartburn.

MrsMotherHen · 17/09/2017 19:25

another for rantadine amazing stuff!

Plop5 · 17/09/2017 19:26

Mine was so bad Gaviscon didn't touch it. But being wheat free solved it

I would see a GP but I went with awful reflux at about 16 weeks, after suffering for a few weeks and the doctor prescribed me omeprazole so I'm hoping it's not a problem in pregnancy. It stopped the heartburn almost immediately and over the next few days cleared up a few other reflux related issues I had as well.

A good stick of ice lollies

Omaprazole is fine to take in pregnancy. I've had heartburn since week 7 and it's awful. Gaviscon was not helping as it simply came back an hour later. It's not good to let yourself have long term heartburn, you can damage your oesophagus. Check with your GP if you want reassurance, but I couldn't have got through without my Omaprazole

Gaviscon straight from the bottle! Buy a big and little bottles. Top up the little one with the big one and keep one by your bed and take one in for work. I was teaching nursery last time round and the children got used to me needing my "mixture" as they called it.
Avoid dairy/fats etc.

Watch out for it continuing after pregnancy -turned out I had gall stones! Second pregnancy (and after gall bladder removal) and I've had nothing more than a little indigestion.
