Light bleed & small clots @ 5 weeks

Hi all,

I wonder if anyone can help. I'm 5 weeks 4 days pregnant and today I felt a small gush when I stood up after a 6 hour car journey. I went to the toilet and had some very light bleeding with around 3 small clots. Is it possible this could be spotting and not a sign of a miscarriage? My husband and I were at a wedding yesterday and I was also doing the bridal party's makeup, so although I (obviously) didn't drink, I was awake from 6am-3am the next morning. We also had sex for the first time since being pregnant. Could any of these things have had an effect? I was dancing but nothing too crazy. Praying that everything is still ok...

Hi, I'm in a similar position to you at 5 weeks 3 days with light bleeding. My GP advised to go to the Early Pregnancy Unit on Thursday last week but it was a four hour wait so I didn't go. Had a bit more bleeding yesterday and went down. It was so worth it, they were so helpful and took blood tests and did a vaginal examination. Although they wouldn't be able to change the outcome if it is a miscarriage it's nice to be taken seriously. I have to go back tomorrow to check hcg levels again.

I would definitely advise going to one if you can. Hope it all goes ok for you.

Thanks so much @AnUtterIdiot, that's reassuring about the staying up late I was worried tiredness might have brought it on. I'm going on holiday early tomorrow morning so this is the worst possible timing, I can't call or see my GP. I'm quite upset and the holiday is the last thing on my mind but it's all paid for and I guess it might be the break I need if the outcome isn't great.
@Manctart I'm sorry that you're going through the same thing, it's very worrying. Glad you got to see someone and they were helpful though. Sadly I will have to wait until next week when I come home. I have pretty bad cramping now and more bleeding so am fearing the worst Sad
