Can you leak waters without a show?

...or is it just wee? Confused I'm 37 weeks pregnant and have a horrible cold! I've been in bed for 24hrs, and there has been a LOT of uncontrollable sneezing. I haven't felt like I need the loo, but there's been a little bit of seepage eeeeeewwww and I've started to worry that it might be waters.
It's more likely to just be my pelvic floor admitting defeat, right? Pregnancy is such a magical time Blush

Omg this happened to me! I came out of Sainsbury's (was due to be induced the next day) and thought I'd wet myself a little. It carried on till I got home (4pm ish ) and then about 9pm I had my show. Got sent home after that, till I couldn't take it no more !
Good luck!

Yep. I leaked for 2 days before going into labour with my 2nd. Kept getting told it was probably wee but it definitely wasn't.

Put a pad in for a bit and then you can look and smell if it's wee... if it's waters its.more likely to leak when you are lying down as baby isn't plugging the exit so to speak. Wee unlikely to leak when you're lying down so much. But then again if you haven't press in 24hrs then it could be wee?!

Call the midwife I'd say...

*Peed in 24hrs not press 😒

ememem84 · 17/09/2017 14:35

I think general advice is to put a pad in and lie down. If it's wet again once you get up it's likely to be waters. I think that's what midwife said anyway.

If in doubt check with them.

I feel your pain though. Am 38 weeks. Have a bit of a cold. And am cautious everytime I sneeze.

Thanks folks, I'll give that a go!

Yeah that happened to me. Dont think I even had a show. I sat on a towel for a cpl of hours then I knew so went to hosp.

BrawneLamia · 17/09/2017 18:00

I've never had a show until after my waters broke. Good luck!

Nessalina · 18/09/2017 06:41

Doesn't seem to have been much overnight, I think it might just be standard amounts of very pregnant CM. There'd surely be more by now if it was waters! Will keep an eye on things, taking it easy at home today anyway Smile

Yes and always worth checking out.

1stTimeRounder · 18/09/2017 07:02

@nessaline even if it has eased off please go and get it checked by the midwife; that's what they are there for; they will not think you are wasting their time.

If it is your waters then you shouldn't be left for too long before delivering as there is a risk of infection; most hospital won't let you go more then 24hrs after waters breaking to being in established labour, so get checked today.
You'll either get peace of mind that it was wee or something else, or you might need to be induced to keep the baby safe from infection. Please don't just wait and see.

I got checked at 30 weeks because i thought i had leaked. Doc thought it could be hind waters that had gone so less of a whoosh than full. Spent a couple of hours at Mau to have tests. Midwives were lovely. Was a false alarm but put mind at ease. Never worked out what it was but essentially had very wet knickers after a couple of hours while shopping and hadnt even noticed til i stopped for a wee Confused hind might go before the main event so worth getting assessed if your worried

I never noticed any kind of show but felt gushes of what I thought was possibly wee at 38 weeks. I was also having a lot of what I thought was back pain. Called the midwife led unit who asked me to come in for a check up. Turned out I was 9cm dilated so they were very happy I'd called.

Nessalina · 18/09/2017 16:41

Nothing at all today, so I'm pretty sure it was just weak bladder plus sneezing Blush No other symptoms (back pain etc).
First time round I never had this issue as DS was born with waters unbroken, the midwives broke them as he crowned (water birth), and I didn't get any show until I was 4cm. Probably be totally different this time round, but I'm hoping she stays out for a couple more weeks yet!
