Only gained 1.3kg and I'm 34 weeks should I be concerned?

My BMI is overweight so I don't know whether my weight gain will be related to that. But should I be concerned that I've only gained 1.3kg since my booking in appointment? Baby seems to be growing fine on the growth chart so maybe I'm just worrying for nothing.

I wouldn't worry. I had only gained about 2kg by that stage - my BMI was high too. I put on another few kilos in the final weeks as I became less physically active.

I was pretty much down to my pre-pregnancy weight within days of giving birth.

It happens like that for some. I'm overweight and at term weighed 4kg less than booking. Once DS and all the extra fluid was out I was 15kg lighter than booking.

All went back on when breastfeeding though....

As long as the baby if fine on the growth charts it doesnt really matter. If you are slightly higher on the bmi you are recommended to put less on. I wouldn't worry.

I'm only 18 weeks but I'm very overweight. I've not put on anything yet. I think it's quite common.

By this time last pregnancy I had gained about a stone Blush

Good for you! You probably find you are eating better and not drinking so losing weight 👍

INeedNewShoes · 17/09/2017 18:46

At a similar stage I had only put on 2 kilos and no one was concerned. My baby was fairly small at 6lb10oz but perfectly fine.

DiegoMadonna · 17/09/2017 18:48

What have the doctors said? I'm sure they'd tell you if it was a problem.

katcatkat · 17/09/2017 18:49

I gained no weight in my entire pregnancy though I was overweight to start with I gave birth to a 10lb 3oz baby at 42 weeks. I just wasn't hungry and it obviously wasn't a problem. I was 2 dress sizes smaller 2 week after baby was born than before I was pg.

Moanyoldcow · 17/09/2017 20:08

katcatkat - that's what I'm hoping happens to me. My appetite is totally off so keeping weight off has been accidental although I have tried to make better choices.

My last baby was 11lb and whilst I put on 3.5st, it all went 3 weeks post preg. I'm hoping for a more manageable weight baby and less weight gain this time.

I lose weight in pregnancy. As long as your baby is growing and you're eating well it will be ok. I looked very ill by the end of my first pregnancy because I wasn't eating anything but toast and ice lollies and I looked skinny (not in a good way) and grey and malnourished. Not exactly blooming Grin

RedBlackberries · 17/09/2017 20:21

And my baby was a healthy pink bundle 7lb 7oz

I lost a little weight in both my pregnancies.

Not unwell. Not unhealthy. Perfectly average sized offspring.
