Hi All. Just had the most horrible night with sudden onset of shivers and fever. Back aching more than usual too.
Doc has given me antibiotics (Cefalex) as he said this could well be a UTI or similar, though it doesn't hurt to wee??
Just feel really ill especially being on my own with DS (3) and wondered if anyone else has had this sorta thing, how long it took to feel better, if their baby was Ok etc...Thanks!

Hi Flightattendant

Hope you're feeling a bit better.

I think the preterm labour thing is that your kidneys can irritate the uterus and bring on contractions - this is why they always come down hard on UTI infections with prompt treatment. Has the doc sent a urine sample off to the lab to confirm? V common not to have usual cystitis symptoms in preg. I've had three UTI infections in my preg and with treatment all is fine - if it is a UTI you're having the right treatment and hopefully by now it's started kicking in and you should be feeling better or will do soon. Great he came out at 2am - you're obviously in good hands. Cefalex is considered a baby friendly treatment too.
