Headaches at 11/12 weeks

For the past 3/4 days I've been getting headaches. Sometimes I've woken with one, others have come on throughout the day. I've tried taking paracetamol but it doesn't make a difference.

Is this a common pregnancy symptom?

I've had a few. You might be dehydrated. Make sure you're getting enough fluid and rest x

I had it a lot through mine. I used 4head and vaporub. Taking lots of break's worked at a pc making sure lots of water and any lights that didn't need to be on were off.

Acupuncture helped mine. They stopped after a few weeks.

I had these throughout pregnancy but particularly in the early weeks - I always get headaches around ovulation time too, so I assumed it was something to do with hormone levels.

IIRC headaches in pregnancy aren't deemed a concern until the third trimester when it can be an indication of high blood pressure/pre eclampsia if particularly bad/unusual.

DD had this and such a crippling migraine she was hospitalised at about 12 weeks.

This was the first sign of anaemia, in her case, which was diagnosed at 16 weeks by which time it was severe (despite taking the normal pregnancy supplements). The headaches stopped once she was on high dose prescribed iron tablets though it took several weeks to get up to the right level.

So do get checked out is my suggestion, though hopefully it's just your body getting used to pregnancy.

I never knew about the anaemia thing and I was put on to iron when I was pregnant! Wish I'd thought of acupuncture had it when I was 39weeks would never have thought it about for before - typical!

I had blinding headaches at around the same time. They went away but returned with a vengeance in the last few weeks before giving birth. You have my sympathy! Flowers
