I've not ate any tuna in this pregnancy and I was told by my midwife to avoid it. I know other people who are pregnant eat it, what's your thoughts?

Tuna is fine, just not in huge quantities:

It should be limited not avoided

Expectingbsbunumber2 · 15/09/2017 13:04

I thought it was to be avoided. This has made my day, I've not had tuna in 6 months! Guess what I'm having for lunch!! Thank you lovely.

Once a week

PerpetualStudent · 15/09/2017 13:06

I thought the limit for tinned was 4 cans a week? I don't know about you but I can't ever see myself reaching that limit?!

PsychoPumpkin · 15/09/2017 13:10

Yeah it's four cans a week max, but who eats that much tuna?

dementedpixie · 15/09/2017 13:11

The limits according to nhs

  • two tuna steaks a week (each weighing about 140g when cooked or 170g when raw)

  • four medium-sized cans of tuna a week (about 140ga can when drained)

Expectingbsbunumber2 · 15/09/2017 13:14

That's a lot of tuna but good to know! Thanks ladies
