For a tickley cough and "gungy" throat at 30 weeks pregnant?

I've tried the hot drinks and toast thing but it's the 3rd day now and no real improvement.

My throat doesn't hurt but is uncomfortable and feels like something is lodged there (mucus I guess) I have had a tiny bit of a stuffy nose but no "cold" or flu virus... I thought it would have turned into one of these by now as DP was very sick at the start of the week with a heavy cold.

So my question is what do you think will help clear / ease it? Can I take throat sweets in pregnancy?

I'm on day 5 of a horrible cold and feeling sorry for myself!! All I want are my beloved Lemsip max strengths which are obviously not allowed. Gahhhhhhh.

Oooh pate. Yes. On lovely crusty fresh french bread. Maybe with a salad and some "real" mayonnaise.

I've had the occasional glass of wine but oh to have more than one with dinner. A lovely crisp cold nz sauv blanc. maybe with some scallops. Or a picked crab.

But yeah. No tea. Absolutely no tea.

ememem I'm about to make your day...runny eggs are fine as long as they're lion marked.

ememem84 · 17/09/2017 09:44

spam it's strange - I know they are I suppose, ive never had any issues with eggs previously. But haven't wanted to risk it. that said I was still horse riding until 30 weeks so maybe my attitude to risk needs a shake up

I also want tuna. Proper rare tuna steak. With sesame lime black pepper dressing. Was told tinned tuna is ok. The good stuff avoid unless it's well done. waste of a good tuna steak

I completely agree about well done tuna being an absolute waste Ememem , i'd rather go without.

I have been eating runny eggs all through though.

Dp and I plan to go for a meal when we feel comfortable leaving ds with a family member for a few of hours. We are going to have deep fried brie, rare steak with blue cheese sauce and a bloody good large glass of merlot each. I genuinely can't wait for that , sad cow that I am!

ememem84 · 17/09/2017 13:42

hail nope. Not a sad cow. We're doing the same. I'm due 28 sept. My birthday is2 October. We're going out for a belated birthday dinner. Same thing. Dippy baked Camembert, rare as you like chateaubriand squeaky beans, chips and a Malbec.

Then before Christmas we're going to a local restaurant which supposedly does the best most succulent most delicious beef wellington in the world. I know this because it was a friend's birthday in May. We went to her birthday dinner along with about 12 others. I sat and ate albeit a lovely chicken supreme dish. While every one of the other buggers tucked into the wellington. It was like torture. Pure pure torture.

I'm not a believer in well done steak. Rare or don't bother. Mmmm. hurry up baby mama wants steak!

Paté... Oh paté. My main craving and my true love. Definitely my post baby meal.

Re hot drinks... My midwife actually tells me to drink them especially when baby is quiet or I'm feeling under the weather. Surely they would at least advise caution if too much was bad?
