Hi ladies! I'm 31 weeks tomorrow and just making a list of things I still need, has anyone made a checklist? And have you put how many of each thing you've got/you're getting? Don't want to buy too many nappies in one size for example, thank you!

I would make a list for what u need for your hospital bag.

Nappies, maybe get a box in in a few weeks, size 1, u can always get more once baby is born, wouldn't stress n over buy x

Ruthie thank you, I've made a hospital bag list so I'm going through all of that to see what I need too

I'm lucky and haven't had to make a list of things as my parents are buying me all the 'expensive' things as they put it like nappies but I've still got clothes to sort out and bedding. I know when it comes to those I want at least 4 sheets and 7 sets of baby grows etc

With my first DC I bought loads of clothes that they didn't get chance to wear!! Plus we got some as gifts.

You probably won't want to wrestle a newborn into a dress or jeans for example.

This time I'm going with:

6 sleep suits
6 vests
2 scratch mits
2 cardigans / hoodies
Few pairs of socks
Loads of muslins
All in one coat (winter baby)
Couple of blankets

  • won't take them all to hospital though

HTH x

Ooh & hats!

DeadDoorpost · 15/09/2017 09:20

dramallama ooh, thanks for the reminder about hats! Should probably invest in some seeing as I'm due in November. Better to have a toasty baby than a cold one.

We have-

12 newborn sleepsuits (with fold over scratch mits)
8 newborn vests
2 cardigans
4 hats
1 coat
A few blankets

Of these we're taking 3 of sleep suits and vests plus a cardigan and hat to the hospital. Also the coat and one blanket.

We've bought 2 packs of newborn nappies as we don't know how big/small our baby will be.

Things I got which I love

Nappies but don't get too many of one brand as my lo bum didn't react well to the mamia ones. They used to stick to him. Ended up with pampers

Long sleeve vests
Babygros
Hat
Jacket for going home
Sleepyhead (goes in the sleepyhead)
Snuzpod
Rocker
Playmat
Travel system - got the yoga baby vista which is great and has a huge basket
Muslin cloths
Baby bath
2 changing mats with an curve on each side for when they roll and 2 so you can have one upstairs and one downstairs
Maxi cosi car seat
Sling
Steriliser of bottle feeding

For you
Sanitary pads
Deodorant
Big black knickers
Nightdress for labour
Socks for the delivery suite as i found it cold
Comfy pyjamas for after baby is here
Dry shampoo

My son is 18 days we have about 20 vests and sleepsuits but we went through 5 outfits yesterday. Unless you're washing everyday I'd say at least ten. We also went through 15 nappies yesterday so I'd have at least 100 in the house in various brands to see which you like. If yours is like mine 100 nappies will last... a week? I recommend at last 10 muslins too!
