I've been told baby is on the smaller side of the "norm" so there may be further scans closer to my due date.

I only got the scan today as movements started reducing, my bump has measured bang on where it should be at my midwife appointments so I was a little shocked to hear the word "small" used. My fluid volume is 18cms "average"

I'm confused as to how my bump is normal (measured 30 at 28.5weeks) but baby is "small" - could it be I've been eating too much and gaining general weight, or bloated, or could it be baby's measurements are wrong?

Also I've nosed online and the measurements of baby don't seem small on average to me at all?

It could be that baby has shifted position. Mines quite far back so that could maybe have an effect? It could also be that the scan wasn't as accurate. When I had my growth scan at 25 weeks the midwife told me that even with a scan the measurements aren't always accurate.
It could be bloating, and it could be weight gain, but surely you'd notice if it was either of those?
I can't be much help but considering what I was told at my scan it's not uncommon for the measurement to be off.

That's just over 2lb which doesn't seem amazingly small to me. Is this your first baby op? I ask because mine have all been 'small' , which translates as about 7lb , which is actually fine as they were born healthy.

I think it's very easy for any health professional to accidentally say something that panics you , especially when you're pregnant and worry more easily.

I guess what I'm saying is that you should try to remain calm , it sounds like they are looking after your and offering you all available scans and tests as a precaution.

I hope it all goes well.

Fundal height doesn't really mean a lot, I have measured 2-3cm behind in 2 pregnancies and had 2 over 10lb babies. Smaller than average isn't a problem... by definition 50 % babies are smaller and 50% are larger so quite normal

My 30 week scan

Feral weight 1.7kg

Had a growth scan yesterday at almost 38 weeks and baby is now 3.2kg (7lbs)

So your numbers are slightly lower than mine but don't seem alarmingly so

Thanks ladies. Think it may have just been a off hand comment now, and it really didn't panic me but when I thought about it later I realised my bump measured bang on the night before (according to the midwife it was "exactly right")

It's my first baby and I'm naturally slim (or was pre pregnancy) I'm also tall, so I've been told if anything my bump should be small.

I'll mention it all at my next midwife appointment.
