I used to use depilatory cream to keep my bikini line tidy but since becoming pregnant, was wary about the chemicals. I went for my first wax today (total wax virgin) and had a Brazilian. Can I assume that the tenderness will go away?!

The funniest thing was the paper pants that looked like something Peter Stringfellow would wear on the beach - bleugh!

HAs anyone else switched to waxing since discovering they were pregnant?

Nah - I just shave about once a month!

katybird · 04/04/2007 17:55

I wasn't sure about depilatory cream either but I'm not sure I can face waxing, is it definitely not safe? I'm just being a wimp really.

My SIL recommends a Brazilian to all her pregnant patients (she's a chiropractor) so they don't shave you in hospital, ouch.

juuule · 04/04/2007 18:29

I've never been shaved in hospital when having a baby. Do some hospitals still do that?

Hopeitwontbebig · 04/04/2007 21:02

A Brazilian!!!!!!!! Ooh, ouch, was that really painful?

toadstool · 04/04/2007 21:12

Ugh, can't wait for the regrowth itching thread. No they didn't shave me in hospital either (according to MW it went the way of other things like compulsory enemas).

scootermum · 04/04/2007 21:14

They shaved me a bit when stitching me up after! But I dont think they do it as a rule prior to giving birth anymore...hope not anyway!

southeastastra · 04/04/2007 21:16

twoplusone · 04/04/2007 21:18

I look far less like a plucked chicken than I did yesterday. Planned in my head that I would show my other half and he would be really pleased. He laughed at the plucked chicken look instead :-(

It didn't hurt so much - I only made an ouch noise when they were on the really intimate bits. The rest of it was quite bearable.

I seriously wouldn't wax whilst pg. It is so much more painful because of the hormones in your body. Great otherwise!!

Jonze · 05/04/2007 10:11

I had a brazilian before, and whilst I loved being clean-shaven in a bikini, I found the whole look a bit disturbing in a pre-pubescent, perverted way (don't have much hair to begin with). Even my husband was a bit creeped out. Looked better after 2-3 weeks of growth.

marieg76 · 05/04/2007 10:22

Jonze - agreed. I'd never go for the Hollywood as it does look to "girlish". Happy to have my landing strip!

Took ages for the plucked chicken look to go for me and was disappointed at how quickly I was all stubbly again. Did not repeat.
