Depends on how ready your body is so i believe. Some people go into labour within 24 hours. Some people need a few. I have mine a week on fri and i plan on walking 5km after and weve booked to have a lunch date with friends the following day in a hope that "sods law" we will have to cancel 😂
(The friends are aware!!)
How far will you be on yours?

EssentialHummus · 13/09/2017 15:21

I had one on the tues and had dd here by the thurs, but it's not foolproof. I was 40+1 at that time.

RyanStartedTheFire · 13/09/2017 15:30

The review found that overall the intervention is associated with a 24% increase in chance of delivering within 48 hours, a 46% increase in chance of delivering within a week and a 74% reduction in likelihood of going 2 weeks over dates.

Essential Hummas - wow, worked pretty well for u then. If the sweep doesnt work she mentioned induction. I thought they usually do a few sweeps before induction. My consultant doesnt want me going too far over x

Helped with my first pregnancy but failed with second, cervix was too far back. I had a few with second and no joy! Ended up getting induced.

Hopefully my cervix is in favour this time round.

I had one on Sunday at 40 weeks and another today at 40+3. i had 3 with my last preganacy before labour started (and then boy, did it get started!) They're not very pleasant but if you want to feel like you're doing something to get things going it's worth a shot.

Laurad04 · 13/09/2017 16:10

asongforthelovers - maybe they do just come when they're ready then. The end bit feels like it is taking for ages. I wish i left work later.. i am so bored throughout the day until my husband comes back from work x

My friend got sweep recently at 37 weeks and went into labour at dinner time that day.

I showed absolutely no signs with second, no pains, niggles or BH.

Hopefully it works for you, get bouncing on ball if you have one. Good luck op.

RedBlu · 13/09/2017 18:20

Had a sweep at 40+1, had it done at 10am,
Contractions started by 4pm, baby born at 3am following morning Confused

Expectingbsbunumber2 · 13/09/2017 18:30

I had one at 40 weeks and it didn't work.

midnightflowers · 13/09/2017 18:43

I had one with both dc
36 & 37 weeks and both dc were born less than 12-24 hours later.
Keep busy! Walking, bouncing on ball, lots of sex good luck!

Laurad04 · 14/09/2017 07:07
