Anyone else suffering with bad headaches? Been a week of them now there beginning to get me down.
Checked my blood pressure which doesn't seem overly high? 133/78
Thought maybe try cutting out caffeine... anyone got any good alternatives (apart from decaf) SadSad

Yep I had awful migraines during the first trimester. I spoke to the chemist and it was ok to take paracetamol.

I hope you feel better soon.

dangle90 · 12/09/2017 16:44

Thank you, I've been taking paracetamol but they don't seem to be touching it. Hoping it's just a bug or something going round as the thought of another 8/9 week at work when it's like this is hell :(

Please get this checked out by your midwife. Being a midwife myself I would advise you to get this checked out.

I had the same at 24 weeks. I was referred to the maternity day unit where I had to have blood and urine tests for pre eclampsia, and blood pressure taken hourly.
Everything was fine fortunately. The midwife told me to increase my fluid intake to 2 litres a day which I did. The headaches settled after a week or so and didn't come back.
I think it's quite common to get headaches around this time but you should get yourself checked out to be on the safe side.

Lou68kennedy1 · 12/09/2017 20:23

Yes hon, more to it than just BP, she should test your urine and your headaches havent improved with Paracetamol. ☺️

Thanks for the advice ladies. I will get in touch with midwife and see what she says

I suffered from really bad headaches in my first and second trimester, luckily they eased off at the end of the second and haven't come back in the third.

I know you will probably feel rubbish and its really irritating to have daily headaches but hopefully they will ease off for you. Hopefully your midwife can put your mind at rest and has some good advice for you.

I'm 24 weeks and suffering from one constant headache for the last fortnight. I went to the Dr's when my eyesight went blurry and they checked my blood pressure & urine to be sure it's not pre eclampsia. I've been prescribed codeine to take as required to try to get rid of it. You should go get checked out x

Just a little update, I work in the hospital so went round to a DR in A&E who checked urine and blood pressure, blood pressure was 140/88 so a little higher than Monday. So will keep my eye on that. But turns out I have a bladder infection. I had been having fever symptoms too so this explains that. Still nothing to explain headaches but think I'm just run down. Have appt with consultant next week too so will mention them again. Thanks everyone

That's great you got checked out but please don't go to A&E, get to a midwife. BP is high and isn't normal for you, a BP profile would eliminate it as well as bloods. Doctors spend 6 weeks on their training in maternity. We are specialists in this field. And you need antibiotics for infection. Please get in touch with your midwife. ☺️

Okay I will call her today. I have been put on anti biotics now. I probably should drink more considering I'm pregnant with twins, but I have been the past few days
