Hi everyone, I am currently 32 weeks pregnant. This is my second pregnancy. Like this pregnancy I have beeen started on Labetalol 200mg twice daily order to control pregnancy induced hypertension. This time around my high blood pressure surfaced a lot earlier and have been on labetalol for around 5 weeks now to control it. The past week I have felt so very unwell, constant sore heads thats just do not go away, I have been feeling very sick. I have continually seen spots in my vision. I have reported this all to my maternity assesment unit, my midwife and the consultant in charge of my car on 3 different occassions throughout the week. My urine is clear, my bloods are normal. I feel so terrible I feel like im loosing my mind and everytime i go in to get checked i feel as though I am wasting valuable time. My blood pressure when I go in to get monitored always sits in the high 130s/80. However today I was driving into my local town when i went completley blind, I had to ring my husband from work to come and collect me, my vision returned after around 10 minutes, it was a frightening experiance.I really dont want to go back to the maternity assesment unit again as I dont feel they are taking me seriously and not sure tlwhat they will have me do if i was only there yesterday and everything seemed normal. I have made an appointment with my Gp this afternoon but i feel really stupid and dont know what I expect to happen. Is this just a normal symptoms of pregnancy and am i being to cautious by running to be monitored? Any advise would be very much appreciated xx

Go back to your maternity assessment unit. Just ring them and tell them what's happened. They will want to see you.

Maternity Assessment unit asap.

I had high blood pressure from 32 weeks and was on labetalol. My midwife was seeing me every couple of days and checking my blood pressure and urine. I was told to let them know if I had any visual issues and was sent in for monitoring many times. From what I understand it can turn into pre eclampsia pretty quickly so I wouldn't hesitate to go for monitoring again if my vision went entirely. Better safe than sorry!

No, this absolutely not a normal pregnancy symptom.

You need to get checked, asap.
I know it's hard, if you feel you are bothering people a lot: but this is really misplaced: you're pregnant, and it's your job and responsibility to get each and every symptom checked out.
Best wishes.

Same as above, I was on labetalol and being monitored at least weekly with regular urine and blood tests etc. A routine blood test at hospital lead to a crash Caesarian and DS being delivered at 30 weeks, you can turn from high blood pressure to medical emergency very quickly

Go I had no symptoms except being sick for a week, then suddenly within 4hrs I was told it was help syndrome and they had to get baby out asap. Get down to maternity and get checked again please.

Just to reassure you,I had my ds at 32 weeks due to PE and he's a strapping 6ft2 teen now. Take your bag just in case.
