HIP PAIN AT NIGHT - ANY IDEAS??

I'm 30 weeks pregnant with my 4 th child. But everynight at the moment I'm woken up with hip pain on right side.I normally sleep lying on right. I try and roll onto other side but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I get no relief from lying on left side on bendingthe leg up/down etc. has anyone else had this. How did you resolve it?
Any ideas gratefully recieved.

oh I had this, its really bad isn't it.

Have you tried lots of pillows? under bump and between thighs helped me

SlightlyMadSpringBunny · 03/04/2007 23:01

Yes I had this - I resolved it by giving birth .

It was a bit better when I was in hospital for a few days which I put down to either rest during the day or a much softer bed - probably the latter.

Hmmm with dd1 I got a trapped femeral artery on the rightside of my body, kinda felt like hip pain to start with, but down the front of it iuswim? I used to have to get on all fours and start circling the leg, when it was coming on, otherwise an attack would last for hours, I looked really funny doing it in the office

YOu could try sleeping on an old duvet to soften the bed...

I had a problem with my sacroiliac joint in late preg and after the birth. A sports injury physiotherapist helped me and got rid of it eventually - the muscles around the joint were going into a spasm

I found a bit on it here

Thanks everyone. I've got a v pillow which I will give a try tonight. Will let you know how I get on.

I get this exactly the same but on the left side. It almost feels like cramp in my hip and down the outside of my thigh but nothing seems to help. I always thought it was due to extra weight and the fact that I am lying in the same position without moving for a long time. Have tried the pillow between the knees but doesnt seem to make any difference.

Pillow between my legs helped me, also a hotwater bottle (not for the heat but like a water bed) under the painful hip.

a matress topper to make the bed a bit softer + a body pillow (reused as a b/f pillow after) was the only thing that helped me.

I had this so badly in my 4th pg - all I can recommend is cushions everywhere and chjanging position whenever it gets too agonising. Have a word with your midwife as she may refer you to a physiotherapist who can give you v. good advice on minimising strain etc.

We got a 'memory foam'-style mattress topper and it did the trick for me, along with a small soft pillow between the knees.

I had this in last trimester - just couldn't get comfortable at night. Extra cushion under your bump and between your knees?
