TTC BBT

Hello, new to the forum and new to charting.

This is my first cycle since MMC at 8 weeks, started charting as I have irregular cycles and trying to see if BBT (basal body temperature) sheds any light on this.

With it being my first cycle it hasn't put a cover line on. This cycle I am expecting to be 35 days although could be longer after MC.

I've attached my chart as unsure whether it looks normal etc? I read somewhere that your temp is supposed to be far lower pre O (ovulation) and mine isn't but I'm not sure if that could be my body getting back to normal after last cycle.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Put the charts away and just have regular sex and enjoy yourself. Women make this too much of a chore.
I've had problems I never thought I would have kids, have irregular cycles. Last year I had 2 periods!!! Stopped trying and got pregnant.
Just chill

I used to do ovulation tests daily and they were never positive so I thought I couldn't get pregnant, gave up trying and worrying about it.

Now 7 weeks along completely out of the blue.

Ditch the charting and enjoy yourself!

It doesn't give you a coverline till it detects ovulation. For that, it needs 3 temps higher than the previous 6 so it can't be detected till at least 3dpo.

If your temp stays higher tomorrow, I expect it will give you 'crosshairs' ie a coverline and vertical red line to show ovulation.

At a guess I would say you ovulated day 31!

Thank you for your help,

Yeah I've been stuck inbetween charting and just forgetting about signs etc. Just started to try work out what's going on with my cycles more than anything.

Lovely to hear positives from problem cycles!

Ah right, I was wondering when the coverline would appear, thanks!

@ttc2017AJF I'm so sorry about the Mc. I have had x3 mcs and they are horrible ❤️

Actually I do not believe 'ditching the charts' always helps. It's very personal and honestly, having had 4 pregnancies in 6 months the only thing that got us the hit ratio in the end was careful charting and timed sex. We went into it very enthusiastically and made sure it wasn't routine. You do need to work at it 😂

But yes. 'Just having fun' sadly never cut it for us. Organised, timed sex did it 😊

I'd say you ovulated on day 31 which is possibly a little late but totally normal for after a Mc if you were a little far along when it happened. I'd give it another month or two of charting to see if it evens up and it should pop x hairs on there. Please do pm me if you want to stay in touch and if temping gives you control, keep doing it. If it stresses you then please do go ahead and ditch it. But do what suits you 😊

Thanks CL!

Yeah just having fun doesn't seem to work for us either, 2 years with nothing. The time we tried to avoid BD around when I thought I was ovulating (because we were getting married) we fell pregnant (the MMC). Hence why i'm charting, to see if i'm ovulating later than I thought.

My coverline is now on and it also predicts the same day as you thought for ovulation so much later than expected and we didn't BD around then so awaiting AF but just glad to have a slight insight Smile

Good to hear back from you :) Everyone has an opinion on charting. It really does work or not work for people.

I love that if you need to see the doctor you can go 'I KNOW my cycles are too long and here's 3 months worth of data'!

May I suggest if you have been trying for 2 years (even with the mc) that if you find your cycles are super long in a few months time you go to the doctor and ask for a referral to a clinic? I think the 2 year gap would warrant it and you might (like me) need something to shorten the cycles to get them working?

How far along were you for the mmc?

ttc2017AJF · 12/09/2017 14:43

Yeah definitely going to ask to be referred as the hospital asked me to aswell after telling them about my cycles whilst being in for mc, they said to wait a few cycles as sometimes a pregnancy can change them.

My previous cycles are very strange, every other month is 35 days but then the cycle inbetween can be anything from 40-70.

Had a scan at what was supposed to be 11weeks but baby was only measuring just under 8 weeks with no heartbeat, went back after a couple of weeks and there was no baby on the scan and sac had turned to an irregular shape.

Would also add that charting does help you build up a picture if something is wrong. It's boring and kills the fun but can give valuable info over time.

CL1982 · 18/09/2017 08:47

OP def sounds like you need a little something to 'jolt' things back. Although I know it happens, my consultant did say you're unlikely to be ovulating properly with cycles over 35 days :) Absolutely worth having a referral.
